So that part wasnt enough for you?

It seems like you'll never be happy with anyone else's reaction to this series until we're all standing in line to let each Piston bend us over & publicly kick us (us = the public in general) in the ass for daring to doubt them.

    Cheese-n-Rice.

Yer a Laker fan (I'm guessing)...you should know that these opinions are coming and you should be ready for them. It comes with the territory. If the Lakers were to win this series while announcers and sportscasters subtly buried them, their fans would bitch and whine too.

But you'll never have to worry about that happening, so let the non-Laker fans vent for a day or two, cause Al Michaels truly did a poor job all series.

And yeah, the wife is hot.

Al Michaels would never "bury the Lakers" since it was painfully obvious he was pulling for them the whole time.

I actually like Michaels when he's doing football, his hockey stuff wasn't bad either. I can still remember how he sounded when the Red Wings won the Stanley Cup a couple years ago...he sounded excited and into the game, and even if he actually wasn't I couldn't tell the difference.

"Being a Pistons fan" has nothing to do with the fact that Michaels was a horrible basketball announcer. Even if you disregard the lack of respect he had for the Pistons...stuff like thinking a replay is live footage, not noticing the scoreboard was wrong and announcing the Lakers as the winners after game 3, constantly going off on a totally unrelated tangent MANY times when there was some pretty significant stuff happening on the court...you get the idea.

I guess maybe Lakers fans wouldn't think it's that bad since they want to defend someone who is pretty obviously one of their own. More power to you. I just would have preferred a focused and excited announcer...no matter WHAT city I lived in.

I dont dont mind if everyone hates Al Michaels & the way he called this series. Personally, I think everyone sucks compared to Chick Hearn.

I just think it's about time that those who are STILL complaining that the Piston's arent getting their props, arent getting their respect, are still getting buried, etc. need to simmer down a little is all. Ok. We got it. Damn.

Other than that, I have no problem with any/all Piston-fan gloating :)

That's easily one of the biggest understatements I've ever heard.

Seriously, every sportswriter, media pundit, announcer, radio host, analyst and beat writer outside of the state of Michigan has been serving up a mea culpa for the LAST WEEK. You've even got the die hards in here giving you your well-deserved props.

Let it go.

You're missing the point. I know everyone...well...almost everyone has given them some respect at this point, that's fine. I don't have any problems with anything said here, everyone has been cool about it. It's just Michaels I'm annoyed with.

And I'll have to take your word for it about his hockey announcing. I don't really watch it that much other than around finals time.

AL Michaels lost his touch a few years ago. Somebody needs to tell him, it isnt about HIM, its about calling the action. Bob Costas is responsible for this "tell an interesting story and talk ad nauseum about crap to make yourself look smart and more informed than everybody else" style of broadcasting.

When the Packers are playing the (i think) Vikings and the reciever makes the catch off defenders shoulder pads, while lying on his back. He gets up and runs. and what does good old Al say "What are they gonna rule? That he cought it? YOu gotta be kidding me" No douchebag, hows about saying something like "hes headed for the end zone, was that a completion?" and wait for a replay before you assume the ref is wrong, and that they are "kidding you" you arrogant douche.

Coming from the "DO YOU BELIVE IN MIRALCES!" announcer, its just sad these days.

Say what, jive turkey? :-)

It was Packers/Vikings on MNF, 2000. Antonio Freeman catches the ball while lying on the ground, barely keeping it from being an incompletion. The Viking D-backs, worthless slobs that they are (to my glee), don't actually down him...so he's up and gone for the TD.

But don't you remember Michaels going "He did WHAT!?" A legit cry of amazement. That was an awesome call...ABC Sports used it in promos for a long time afterwards. I like it just about as much as Packer Radio Network announcers Wayne Larivee and Larry McCarren's call (available on the Legends of Lambeau Field DVD at www.packers.com.)

Hell, listening to Al's interview on The Jim Rome Show a few days ago, he seemed like a pretty cool guy.

Or do y'all want Dennis Miller back? OJ, maybe? Yeesh.

Interesting that this year's Olympic basketball team will be coached by the last two NBA Championship winning head coaches (Brown and assistant Popovich).

But anyways, here's some notes:

- People are saying that Aretha Franklin was lypsyncing the national anthem, but the "experts" are saying she was singing, there was just a delay in the audio. It's possible.

- Who had the most class after the game? Larry Brown giving props to Rick Carlisle and the old Pistons guys or Shaq saying that they were flat-out beaten by the Pistons (he's the only guy who really came out and said it)?

- Darko played 1 minute and broke his right hand in Game 5. He also got the ball stolen. I also disagree with anyone who still says he's a bust. Let him grow up, damn it.

- Jack Nicholson stayed at Kid Rock's place. Huh.

They focus on her to begin with and then show one more closeup the entire time? The body motions didn't seem at all in sync either, and all the accompanying audio is not delayed and the voice is? Wow that's impressive. Or is that three strikes and you're out?

I don't know about Vince. I don't really mind the Kings getting rid of Peja if they get someone good, but Vince is an underachiever and too injury prone. Peja should have let them know this a lot sooner before all the other trades were made.
