It actually *improves* many people chances. PS3 and 360 were supposed to only get NBA Jam as a download if they bought Elite, but now they'll be released separately at some point.
Pushing back an annual sports game seems very rare. Pushing back this year's version leaves them with less time for next year's revision, but maybe next year's won't be the one with the problem. They're going to get killed by 2K this year now.
They were probably going to get creamed by 2K11 even if they had released it on time. Have you seen all the new and amazing features for that game? NBA 2K11 has the potential to be not only the best sports games, but one of the best games of all-time.

I like it just because it shows a lot of actual game footage, unlike the 95% cut-scene commercials for most titles. They don't have a lot of programming yet, so you get a lot of repeats. This also leads to a lot of the game reviews not being current.
