His background story was a great setup to be a monster like none before. Instead they made him
a pussy, starry-eyed, tough-enough contestant, Undertakerdicksucker. He should have been a silent,
menacing, body-guard or something, showing only a very rare, very nasty flash of his physicality. This
could have went on for a long time until he either learned to wrestle and then had matches, or had
some up-and-coming badass earn a rep by finally destroying him.
BTW- I love Roddy, but how could he not make some attempt at getting in shape before coming
back, or at least before taking his shirt off, I almost puked. I mean if your a cashier at 7/11, OK,
be a fat pig all you want, but he's supposed to be an athelete. Even though there are wrestlers
with fat gimmics, it's definitly not him. He looked like minny-Dusty.

Piper had a gut. So what? He's not "supposed" to be a wrestler with the condition of BOTH his hips and knees. That's why he didn't bump or do much in his match - you won't see more than maybe another match from him in WWE.

I was actually impressed with Piper. When you hit around 50 years of age, your body doesn't look the same and for most people cannot - even when you're training. Maybe you don't go to the gym yourself, but if you did, you'd have known this. He has more muscle in his biceps and chest than the last time I saw him wrestle in WCW. Considering this is almost five years after his last televised match, I'd say that his condition is pretty good. He just hasn't been doing any situps. :P

Just so you know I am six feet, 295lbs. I have competed in weight-lifting meets for five years and
have totalled over 1700lb combined (455 bp, 675d, 595sq). I'm 32 and have trained since I was 16.
Also, I have trained with pro-wrestlers from The Monster Factory (Larry Sharpe), King Kong Bundy"s
Sewell, NJ class, and CZW's whole roster at Planet Fitness and Manzo's Gym. I know guys well into
their sixties who work at a desk, have no athletic background, but still train 5-7 days a week and throw
big weight. Piper is on fuckin TV making big paper. He's not Jake Roberts wrestling in people's garages. I just think that he could have presented himself a little better. He doesn't have to be Cena
or Brock, or even Vince, Flair or Hogan, just Hot Rod. I don't mean to insult the man, I like him, I hear
he's a good father of six (No, I never met him and I'm not a pro wrestler) But this is his job. Oh, and not everyone online is a 15year-old-virgin-geek with braces, so watch the assumptions.

I thought Jones' 'bad-ass convict' gimmick was great. Too bad it was apparently forgotten in his first week in the company.

Same here. WWE totally blew it with Nathan. Giving him a badass, crazed, violent lunatic gimmick would have helped hide his in-ring issues. But lately WWE has been trying their best to expose it's stars' weaknesses instead of hiding them. I guess to get bigShow ready for his Brock match, they will have vignettes of him at a buffet, sitting at the buffet table.

About Piper, didn't he have 2 hip replacement surgeries? What the hell is he thinking getting in the ring? I know this is supposedly set-up to get Sean over,but a win against Rikiski is supposed to do that? Sean O'Haire is another star WWE totally dropped the ball with.

I have issues with Nathan Jones. It's just that when he's wearing clothes, he doesn't look very big. He just looks tall and skinny. But when you see him in the buff, he's suddenly totally ripped. Where did all of those muscles come from? Why aren't they shown more often? Maybe Australia is really warm, so he gets cold without a shirt on

It would have been neat if he had been more like Nailz, but maybe that idea scared Vince It is funny, though how it seems that in WWE, every star has to come in by being somebody else's bitch, ie:

N. Jones ==> UT
Brock ==> Paul
Team Angle ==> Kurt
Sean O'Haire ==> Roddy P.
Victoria ==> Steven Richards
Jazz ==> Steven Richards

and others, I'm sure...

This whole Nathan Jones thing is pretty funny. When he beat up Palumbo before his first match, we were just like, "Wow this guy must suck." Then when he was attacked at Wrestlemania and taken off the card, we were scared at how much he must suck. I actually found a dark match of his on Kazaa. It wasn't good, but it didn't suck either.
It could be worse, though. Imagine if he had fucked up the spin kick live on RAW. He'd be the new Shockmaster.

Putting aside the fact that Nathan Jones is awful in the ring, Vince and Co. really screwed up on this one.
Instead of pushing him as a face who is Taker's bitch, he should have been used as an evil heel who had some poor cruiserweight as his bitch (Shannon Moore or Kendrick come to mind). Recycle the mistreatment that DiBiase used towards Virgil, and subtley hint upon the 'favors' Moore or Kendrick have to perform for Jones (I know, subtlety-WWF/E writing team, its a stretch). Build it up so that the Jones' bitch becomes extremely sympathetic with the crowd (ala Rick Steiner in his Varsity Club days), and voila, two new stars are created: Jones as a heartless heel, and Kendrick/Moore as the plucky face who risked everything to escape from Jones' clutches.
The downside of this of course is that we would have been deprived of Taker 'teaching' Jones how to wrestle, but somehow I think the viewers would have somehow survived that classic moment in wrestling history.

There is only one man left to save Vince McMahon and the WWF/E. One man who will provide weekly Hogan/Andre Main Event ratings for RAW. Baghdad Bob is your salvation Vince. www.welovetheiraqiinformationminister.com

About Piper,
You think he at least could have sat in a tanning booth for 20 minutes. That would have helped a little.

At least WWE realizes that Nathan Jones can't wrestle. How much would that suck if they had him in 5-10 min. long matches?

Your Official Sunday, April 13, 2003 Randomly Selected Wiener Of The Day Champion says....

WWE must think all those Nathan Jones/Psycho in prison ads have gone to waste. The whole psycho gimmick is gone and now he seems like a Tough Enough wrestler.

Not necessarily wasted. Though the following scenario would involve some of that continuity stuff WWE writers are so well known for:
Have Jones turn on Undertaker when he returns. Do it in a real sick attack, have him knocking referees, the whole deal. Have him reveal that he teamed with The Undertaker because he knew him (that *was* the reason, right?) and that using `Taker would be an easy way to get the lay of the land in the WWE.
Then you could go back to him to being the evil genius type who just plotted out his first move particularly well.

Wasn't that whole gimmick supposed to be that Richards was THEIR bitch?

Point well taken. I more just meant that most pro-wrestlers who are to the WWE are forced to be partnered up with an old WWE person. I just wish that the new people would come in of their own right instead of riding in someone else's shadow.
