Sounds like the deal moving forward will be:

Sprint Cup
- first 16 races on FOX (they have the first 13 already, are likely to take races 14-16)
- last 20 races on NBC Sports properties...7 on NBC and 13 on NBC Sports Network

Nationwide Series
- first 14 races TBD (probably added to...)
- ...last 19-20 races on Fox Sports 1

Truck Series
- all races on Fox Sports 1

I think this is good for a lot of people.

- NBC. They get the biggest racing series in America. Duh. Plus more eyes for NBC Sports Network which is only a good thing for them. Their work with IndyCar and F1 has been fabulous and starting in 2015 they will be the de facto racing network in the USA.

- NASCAR. Honestly, I feel like ESPN was too full of programming (especially regarding Nationwide races), so if Fox and NBC can improve immediate post-race coverage over what ESPN has then that's only a good thing.

- IndyCar. Honestly this might be the best thing to happen to IndyCar in years, because having the same network air all three series will mean lots of cross-promotion. All those MLB and NBA promos ESPN runs coming out of ad breaks? A lot of them will be IndyCar and F1 on NBC. (Just make the schedule smartly, IndyCar poohbahs.)

- Comcast. They own NBC. They want people to buy their sports tier. Leave NBC Sports and NASCAR on a premium tier and people will buy it in 2015, no matter how much they bitch about having to do so in 2013.

Is it bad for anyone? ESPN? Probably not, unless you are in the motorsports department, but without the NHL on ESPN I still saw tons of Barry Melrose this spring so maybe not even those guys will be hurt too badly.

My flash reaction: HALLELUJAH. Good riddance, ESPN!

My second reaction: I wonder how many Nationwide races ESPN can/will punt to ESPNEWS during next year's lame duck season.

SportsCenter is not a show I seek out, but I've noticed the show airing NASCAR highlights at the top of the hour even on some NFL Sundays. I presume that's over too for the same reasons.

The NW sked has fluctuated between 32-35 races...2015 might have more or less than 33 (is what I was thinking).

As long as they say so ahead of time I couldn't care less. Nothing bothers me about ESPN shifting races around.

ESPN was doing that when the race was a lead-in to SportsCenter, especially once the Chase got going. I'm pretty sure that's over but I don't think that's bad. SportsCenter anchors who only speak stick-and-ball sports and read questions off a teleprompter don't really give the best interviews.

Here in Canada, all of the Sprint Cup races are on TSN. When the races are on FOX, I'll watch them on FOX. Maybe, if any other reason, I like their commercials. I also like the pre and post race coverage FOX has, something that TSN lacks.

Having NASCAR on NBC is good - that means a few less races I'll watch on the Canadian channel.

my problem is this sounds like more Wally Dallenbach, who does nothing for me.

We'll be back right after order has been restored here in the Omni Center.

100% agreed. The only thing I really remember liking about the NBC coverage was Benny Parsons (RIP). Just like Rusty Wallace on ESPN, I don't hate Dallenbach but I don't care for him either. He just comes off as bland for me. I hope that if anything, NBC does the smart thing and gets Dale Jarrett from ESPN instead of Wallace: then it would be a marked improvement.

As for FOX, I like that they're staying there. I know that the commentary crew can run hot and cold for some (I personally love DW, Larry Mac, and Hammond) but I think they have always been committed to getting the most of their telecasts. As long as they keep finding new and interesting angles to check out without injuring fans like the Charlotte fiasco, they will always be my #1 channel to watch NASCAR on.

I just got back from watching at the pub. Saw the end of the Ponce-DeLeon fight, Lacy dismantling Manfredo and 80% of the main event. I say 80% because we lost satellite feed for rounds 7 and 8. A very unhappy crowd at that time.
