NASCAR chase for the cup again living up to the hype. Unless Jimmie Johnson crashes today I believe he has this thing won with holding wins at Daytona and Indy as his marbles. Can't keep Matt Kenseth out of the hunt yet but if gets a crash or a DNF in AZ I think he is done. Harvick would be a long shot. NASCAR is living up to the hype as weel as booking the drama for what has been a good season.

Toyota makes their debut in Daytona 2007.

Just my thoiughts on NASCAR this season.

It's too close to call. Kenseth and Johnson only 17 pts apart? Dale Jr only 78 and Hamlin 80? Johnson or Kenseth can't really crash today, but unless they are top ten, it's going to be REALLY interesting in Homestead next week

Happy is a long shot, I agree. Kenseth and Johnson have to go down together for him to have a shot. But this others? Just let's say the 17 and 48 do 15th & 16th and Jr and Denny finish 1-2. Now Jr and Hamlin are only about 20 points behind Kenseth and Johnson..

Homestead could be lots of fun.

Or boring (Kenseth wins today, Johnson DNFs, the rest, out of the top ten).

Jimmie Johnson has five straight top-two finishes. He should be the Nextel Cup champ already, so I'm glad he's (apparently) going to clinch the title next week at Homestead.

How does everyone feel about the Chase format? I'd rather they separate the ten guys and give them their own points system. It's a noke that before today Johnson had four straight top-2 finishes and Kenseth hadn't finished better than fourth in even one race, but Johnson barely had the points lead.

I personally don't like the Top Ten thing at all. With it set up like that why do the other drivers even bother to show up for the last ten races? It's not like the can get very lucky and win the cup even if for some reason they get 1st and 2nd in all of the last ten races if they are not on hte top ten to start with. As for Johnson's top 5 seconds this year, Kacey Kane has 6 firsts so wouldn't that make him the champion by those terms?

Here's a good example,Tony Stewart barely missed the Top Ten. He had done decent in the last 9 races and I don't keep up with it exactly but just say he did or has done better in the last eight races than say the number 10 or 9 guy has, doesn't matter as he can't win or be in the race for the cup. Sorry but that isn't fair no matter how you look at it.

I hope Nextel will go back to letting them all race for the championship until the last race like it used to be, but I don't see that happening as with this top ten thing it is selling more tickets and becoming a soap opera. Of course it is working as my wife is glued to the TV on race day watching to see what drama develops next.

As long as something makes them money that is what will happen I guess. Who knows, in a few years the whole thing might be scripted at the begining of the year and they wil race just for the show.

You do know that if they didn't have the Chase it would be JJ vs. Kenseth for the title Sunday, and that the third-place guy would be over 300 points back, right?

Anybody want to guess who may try to screw Jimmie Johnson's chances of winning the cup? I say Vickers it already happened as Johnson was about to beat win at the Talladega.

I would not count out Stewart or one of the Busch brothers either.

Yes I do realise that and also know that if not for the Chase that some of the guys who weren't in the top ten when it started would at least be ranked higher than they can be now.
