So I had to work last Thursday and I taped Smackdown. I had a busy weekend and read CRZ's recap before I watched the tape. So he gets to the big Bischoff/Stephanie satellite feed face down and he says:

From her desk, Stephanie introduces Eric Bischoff for a split-screen simulcast. I am experiencing great pain...ain't no way in HELL I'm gonna transcribe this crap. Let's fast forward.

So at first, I'm a little hacked. Is it just me? Bischoff has been getting it done for me lately and I felt he's one of the few bright spots in the current WWE scene. Why can't we get his rap? Is it any worse than all the other crap on that night's show?

I've always had great faith in the wisdom of CRZ, and if he couldn't stand to watch it (let alone transcribe it) I can understand. "Muting/Fast Forwarding/Changing the Channel" is something I like to call the McMahon/Helmsley Era Effect (everybody has a breaking point).

Tonight after work I roll the 9/19 tape (to play catch up) and that segment was awful, IN EVERY WAY! Bischoff's material completely sucked and Stephanie was intolerable (plus, her hair was terrible--either move to a new conditioner or get a fresh cut). I wanted to burn through this crap, but I felt it was only fair to subject myself to the entire segment after doubting CRZ (however slightly).

Mea Culpa Time

OK. I'm new at this, but I'll give it a shot.

Stephanie: I'm so over. Eric do hear all those people cheering for me, Stephanie McMahon, the general manager of Smackdown?

Bischoff: It's the Turner Sports Heat Machine, my dear. The most coveted acquisition of your father's purchase of WCW. You think DDP popped those crowds all by himself?

Stephanie: What are you talking about? I supervise the "creative content" of WWE, and I say I'm the biggest face in the history of this company. So logic dictates that the fans love me, because I said so.

Bischoff: But you were the biggest heel since Sgt.Slaughter carried the Iraqi flag at Wrestlemania 7. What makes you think people will stop hating you just because you say so.

Stephanie: I'm a McMahon. We have a sixth sense which allows us to know what the fans want.

Bischoff: Like having HHH on every segment of every WWE show?

Stephanie: Exactly. In fact, he's been added to the training staff of Tough Enough. And in an exciting use of CGI and modern video technology, he'll be digitally added to every main event from Wrestlemania 1-11.

Bischoff: Great idea.

Stephanie: Wait until you see Hunter bodyslam Andre in front of 93,000 screaming fans in Detroit at WM 3.

Bischoff: You'll be able to turn off that heat machine in no time with fan friendly moves like that, what else?

Stephanie: We McMahon's also have the uncanny ability to capitalize on current hot trends in the entertainment world. I've got Howard Stern's Whack Pack booked into a great angle and we'll be giving Arnold Schwarzenegger the Box Office Championship belt again. Hot stuff.

Bischoff: You really have your finger on the pulse of today's youth. But when I'm not busy taking a stink-face or getting kicked in the nuts, what else might I be seeing?

Stephanie: Well, I'm also resurrecting the biggest angle in WCW history.

Bischoff: Wait, you already tried the nWo.

Stephanie: No, I'm talking about Chucky vs Rick Steiner.

Bischoff: Well you must know what you're doing, you're a McMahon.

Stephanie: Don't you forget it.

Bischoff: Oh, I almost forgot. HLA!

Stephanie: I'm totally over!

Bischoff: HLA!

Stephanie: I'm totally over!

Bischoff: HLA!

Stephanie: I'm totally over!

Bischoff: HLA!

Stephanie: I'm totally over!

Michael Cole: Wow, Stephanie really told Bischoff off. She's great!

Tazz: That's our boss! She's the greatest, bestest, most over face I've ever seen. Stephanie Rocks!

I discovered an interesting clause in the WCW-WWF contract. Apparently Turner Sports gets the heat machine back once every four years for the Goodwill Games.

Monsoon: Ted Arcidi's gonna drop by.
Brain: What a jerk.
Monsoon: He's buying dinner.
Brain: Oh, that Ted Arcidi. He's a wonderful human being.
