I apologize for starting a new thread, but after 79 messages, I thought that I would detail my game playing in a separate thread.

I bought the game yesterday, and played for several hours. I am Chris Jericho and here is my story:

I picked the draft for Raw, even though I got drafted for Smackdown. I fought some random guys before settling in for a long series of matches with DDP. In fact, DDP set up a suspension match for me at Judgment Day. Of course I won the match, so I assumed that DDP would be suspended. Whoops, fought him the next week after the PPV.

I eventually asked for, and received an European title match against William Regal. I defeated him for the belt before InsurreXtion. We were forced to team at the England PPV, but he didn't attack me or anything. I did try to get some brass knuckles from him a couple of weeks after that, but got cold-cocked for my troubles.

I won the King of the Ring tourney, defeating the best character in the game (Hurricane). I got a Undisputed title shot at Vengeance, but I had to drop the Euro title first...so I "let" Eddie beat me in a ladder match at the PPV (I can't get a hang of beating the computer guy in ladder matches yet). I beat Edge for the Undisputed title in the main event (Edge had beaten Taker two weeks prior).

My undisputed title reign led to my troubles with Flair. You see, I stood up for Vince and let Flair know not to set foot in a Smackdown arena (which shouldn't be hard for him to remember because all Smackdown shows take place in either Miami, Long Island, or Hollywood :-). After punking him out, I was mistreated on Raw. I had to fight one on two matches, another suspension match, and a 6 man tag match at Summerslam. The last pay per view so far was Unforgiven, where I had Vince in my corner as I fought Billy with Flair in his corner. I am interested to see how Flair reacts to my latest victory.

The season mode is cool, but I can't figure out the difficulty level. The first guys were SO easy to beat. It got a bit harder, and then it went back to easy. It is a LOT harder to win tag team matches, mostly because the opponent reverses my attempts to tag out to my partner. My question then is: Unlike SD: JBI, does setting the difficulty in the main menu (my setting is on Easy) carry on to the season mode?

I definitely like the movesets for some of the wrestlers. My man Jericho has like 3 or 4 multiple move combos, most of them ending with a cool taunting-type kick or slap to the face.

One other question though. In the other thread, somebody talked about getting to be other wrestlers in matches before yours in the season mode. How is this done? Do you just pick PLAY and then pick who you want to be? That would be great, because as good as Jericho is, I'm getting tired of double powerbomb pins all the time.

Overall, great improvement over SD:JBI, and I have found yet another diversion from the rigors of working life. Thanks Yukes!

I've finshed an entire 2 year season, and when starting a new one, was disappointed that one cannot play any of the nWo wrestlers (Hogan, Nash, X-Pac and Michaels) in a new season. I figured it would be cool that when you started a new season, there would be:

a) The wrestler that was champion from the previous season would be champion to start the new season.

b) If you were able choose one of the 4 nWo guys, a NEW nWo would form (Booker T, Kurt Angle, etc) just to be a bit different.

c) If you're in a tag-team match and you're in a submission hold, the other wrestlers cannot break the hold!! Wassupwitdat?! This makes Armageddon Hell-in-the-Cell matches very easy!!

d) In No Mercy for N64, you can attack certain parts of the body with submission holds and make them limp, hold their neck, etc. but not in this game. Why?

e) You can also mash buttons to try to make it near the ropes in No Mercy. Here, you can't, plus it doesn't even matter if your under the damn ropes in a submission hold. The ref only breaks up pins under the ropes, not submissions.

The preset moves list and "same number" CAW technique is great for a quick building CAW roster.

And I STILL want blood!!!

Great game, otherwise.

You can't? Hmm...I was pretty sure that Nash was on my selection screen once I unlocked him. I'll look it back up later.

The wrestler that was champion from the previous season would be champion to start the new season.

That WOULD be nice

If you were able choose one of the 4 nWo guys, a NEW nWo would form (Booker T, Kurt Angle, etc) just to be a bit different.

That would be interesting, but not exactly feasible (why wouldn't Booker and Kurt start out in the season mode?)

d) In No Mercy for N64, you can attack certain parts of the body with submission holds and make them limp, hold their neck, etc. but not in this game. Why?

You can. That's something I ALWAYS do. I give my guy an anklelock and slap it on a bunch of times, so that whenever my opponent gets up he limps and I'm able to just knock him back down.

And I STILL want blood!!!

Great game, otherwise.

They'd have a really hard time making the case that they aren't marketing the game to kids. Thus, blood might be over doing it. But, I hear you.

Yep.

Since everyone else is doing it (ok, not EVERYONE, but...)

Vikings (3-8) - I didn't see the game, so, uh, no comment.
Badgers (7-6) - Being from Minnesota, qualifying for a bowl, winning at home. Oh, sweet victory.
Buffy 7.8 Earns 6.7 points. Not one of my favorites, but this season is all about PLOT which is good, and it was a nice little episode of plot developement.

My bad... Guess I need new glasses. Nash, X-Pac and Hogan were right there... sigh.

Well, I'm gonna start my new season with Kevin Nash to see what happens with the nWo situation. I just hope he can last for at least 1 match without getting hurt
On a side note, how do you perform a running kick or elbow while your opponent is on the mat?

Here's a weird one:

Second time through Season (first as CAW, now as Angle) I get to a PPV (2nd Judgment Day, I think). I'm supposed to have a Last Man Standing against Lesnar, non-title (I'm Undisputed)

The arena sequence launches, and there I am in the locker room standing in front of Edge. I can't leave until I talk to him. So I do.

The screen goes black, and the results come up, I lost the Lesnar match. Nothing else happens with Edge. Then it;'s time for RAW.

AMEN. I ran right through Heat, and got the call up to SmackDown, only to have my tag team partner Maven and I get DESTROYED for several matches by the EVIL team of Brock & Angle. So I go to Raw to do the whole invading the other show thing and we're now being DESTROYED by Jericho and Rock. I sell a People's Elbow for a good 2 minutes in real time and then get pinned. This happens a lot.

And how in the hell do you kick out of a pin? GameFAQs has absolutely jack SQUAT for info on the game.

Actually, Hogan, X-Pac and Nash have to be unlocked in Season mode to be in the selection screen. (I didn't bother, because I was collecting arenas and CAW parts/moves). I'm not sure how you get Michaels.

Re: Getting out of pins: I mash the buttons, but, so far as I can tell, if you're going to kick out of the pin, the game'll just kick you out automatically. The thing is - the computer almost never goes for a pin unless you're near death and going to get the three anyway.

If you beat the season mode, be sure to watch all of the credit sequence. Without spoiling anything, they show two videos over the credits - the first is a making-of sort of video and the second, well, I don't want to spoil it, but it's far and away the coolest thing I've seen in this game. (If you beat it and didn't watch the credits, the video should still be in the Theater selection screen.)

"Of course the people don't want war ...but, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament or a communist dictatorship ... voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."

I am certainly a button-masher when it comes to being pinned, and usually kick out.

What I can't figure out is: When did I turn to joining Flair's side? I was all for McMahon, and I was supposed to recruit Kane to come to Smackdown. Well, just for fun I let Jericho get seduced by Trish, and suddenly I'm butt buddies with Flair. In fact, I helped my Raw team beat the SD team in an Elimination Table Tornado 6-Man Tag match (great name BTW) at Survivor Series and Flair and I beat down McMahon afterwards. So now I'm the undisputed champ and fighting Brock and/or Angle every week.

Furthermore, even though we won control of the WWE for Flair, I am still on the Smackdown shows, and it still shows McMahon as being the co-owner of Smackdown. Oh well, perhaps there is a match to decide it all at Armageddon in my future (there seems to be allusions to a tag match with Flair and I vs. McMahon and an SD guy).

I can't wait to unlock the n...W...o!

Yeah, see Trish was COUNTER recruiting you, using her breasts as "barter" to try to convince you to jump to RAW. You did, so...there you go.

The ownership thing doesn't get cleared up for awhile. I don't think that they meant 100% "Ownership", I think that they meant 100% control (i.e. Flair books both shows while Vince still has stock).

I thought the entire 100% control was pretty confusing, but it all gets decided in the last PPV.

I have a friend who was considering buying SYM (and a PS2)..
After reading all the threads here I managed to give him the final push into getting it..and thank god he left it at my place last night...

I almost went nuts last night when I walked through the arena (for SD..dunno if Raw is different but I doubt it) and I noticed it looking familiar..then I walked outside..

OhMyF'nGod!!! ITs the MSG!! And even the buildings across the street are pretty much correct! OMG OMG OMG OMG!

Oh, the rest of the game is pretty freakin sweet too!

I KNEW that that jezebel was to blame for my switch. I just don't like how I am friends with Flair because of it. Actually though, I accepted it and even got a Valentine's Day gift from Trish out of the deal, so I'm happy. Interestingly enough, Rev. D-Von tried to make me "see the light" and rejoin his prophet McMahon, but I'm not dumb enough to fall for that again.

Update: I had to defend the Undisputed Title at Royal Rumble so I wasn't in the Rumble itself. I was pissed, and because of that and the fact that I got to handpick my man Angle as my Royal Rumble opponent, I threw the match and let Angle win. I hoped that I could sneak into the Rumble match, but twas not to be. Kane is now scheduled to face Angle at WM, but I hope that I get a rematch at Angle at No Way Out (though it doesn't look likely). Maybe I will have to face the nWo. We'll see tonight after work if I can win the title back before "season 2."

I finally got through the entire season as well. The credits rule the school.
Because I was able to unlock Hogan for season mode, I chose him for my second go-round. Plus, I need to now unlock all the second outfits for the wrestlers (since I spent the pay per view unlockable winnings for unlocking the arenas).

My second season looks like this so far: Beat Taker for the Undisputed title with Hogan. Pushed back challenges from Brock, Albert, Rhyno and Austin at the pay per views. Got into the Flair vs. McMahon storyline as a Flair supporter. I purposely lost the title at Armageddon so I could be in the Royal Rumble match. I came in at number 25, and of course ended up getting cheaply thrown out by Austin. I was very pissed that I couldn't thus unlock the "WWE Superstars" movie because of my loss. I now hope to win the title back sometime soon, and hopefully get a match at WM X8 so I can unlock that arena.

One question though: How do I unlock the "WWE Divas" movie? I don't see it as any reward for winning at a pay per view (unlike the WWE Superstars movie). Do I need to interact with one of the chicks during the season mode in some undiscovered way?

Glad I wasn't the only one who thought the credits owned.

Torchslasher, for the divas video you need to get a score of 100 in Slobberknocker. I used one of my CAW's and ran up an impressive score (one of his finishers is the Special Back Suplex, and with a 4 for tech attack it gets a KO all the time).

Decided to with The Rock for season mode. Hoping to win the Rumble =)

Today I completed season mode as well, with Matt Hardy. Won the tag-team title from Flair and Vince at (I believe) Survivor Series, but I was shafted out of a spot in the six-man Armageddon HIAC match for the Undisputed Title. I did manage to win #1 contendership the following day, though, and went on to defeat The Rock at Royal Rumble 2004 for my second Undisputed Title. Triple H won the Royal Rumble match so he was my opponent for WrestleMania, but first I needed to get past Chris Jericho at No Way Out. I had a series of matches against him, Austin and Hogan (sometimes with Triple H as my partner) before absolutely destroying him in an Ironman Match at No Way Out. Final score: 15-3.

I had a couple more matches with Triple H as my partner before tempers exploded a week into WrestleMania. I teamed with Ric Flair to defeat Trips and Vince McMahon in a tag-team match, and then defeated Teo at WrestleMania in a Hell in a Cell match. Post-match, Matt and Trips had a showing of mutual respect, which disgusted the new 100% owner, Vince, to no end. He demanded the belt from me, and I had one of three options: all three of which were to tell him to Shut His Mouth! Haha... So I did. And then Trips helped me punch him out.

I'm not sure yet who I'm gonna start a new season with. Perhaps Sting, since I created a fairly good one today. Or maybe I'll go with Hardy again-- after all, he now has 99 Superstar points.

I definitely know what it's like to wonder about who to start a LONG ASS season mode with. I really wanted to take somebody low on the totem pole (ie under 70 points) and build them up (especially since I used Jericho and now Hogan, both of whom already had high point totals). I really wanted to go with Hurricane, but I find him hard to control and his running crazy clothesline never hits. I don't really do CAWs so I might have to go with Randy Orton or Maven.

Also, thanks El Nastio for the help on the Divas move question. Like I said before, I don't usually do CAWs, so I might have to wait for a while before I get to see Divas, GLORIOUS Divas.

I unlocked the Divas movie with Brock (Toe Kick, F-5, pin, Taunt, Repeat).

Once you get into a rhythm, 100 isn't that hard to get to. Though you really start to freak out if somebody starts doing moves on you after you pass 50 (Mark Henry beat the living crap out of me when I was up to 95, and if I hadn't beaten him, which I did, something would have been broken).

Since everyone else is doing it (ok, not EVERYONE, but...)

Vikings (3-9) - Michael Vick is the sweet sweet dagger that stabs into my heart...
Badgers (7-6) - Being from Minnesota, qualifying for a bowl, winning at home. Oh, sweet victory.
Buffy 7.9 Earns 8 points. The plot for this season is awesome. I want to have Joss Whedon's children. Well...Not really, but the plot IS awesome. (Should I be waiting for the Marti Noxon sledgehammer of plot screwjob at the end?)
