It's a simple setup of three guys and two guitars. They started out playing a lot of traditional blues/southern folk numbers, but lately have been writing and performing more of their own stuff.
I'm not exactly sure what to compare Scrapomatic to or how to classify them. There is certainly a blues base to most of their music. The structure is simplistic, and the guitar work is average, but that's because the band is mostly a showcase for one of the best vocalists working today. He frequently move between being throaty and rough to a smooth, crooning style. The range this guy has is incredible.
They've got a couple of albums out, but I'm not much a fan of their studio sound. Here's a link to one of their shows on the Internet Music Archive: http://www.archive.org/details/scrapomatic2010-01-10.wklitz.sbd.schoeps.flac16
Some of the better songs in there are Let the Mermaids Flirt With Me, Long Way Home, Hook Line and Sinker, and Louisiana Anna.
For those not familiar with the Internet Music Archive, there's a streaming audio player and then down below there are various download options, usually mp3 and flac. The Archive contains live recordings of musicians who've given permission to fans to record and share their music.
