The format wars continue.

Just when we thought Blu-Ray might have the advantage thanks to the PS3, Microsoft and Intel have announced that they'll be backing HD-DVD instead, meaning there will be no native support for Blu-Ray in Windows.

This makes things even worse. Sony vs. Toshiba was bad enough, but now the former still has Dell, Apple and HP on their side and Toshiba adds the two aforementioned companies to the list.

This will not be pretty.

If I have a Linkeys router between my PC and ADSL modem, do I really need a software firewall such as Zonealarm taking up valuable resources, if the router blocks hackers as well? Thanks
