So I've been searching the web all the past week for some answers. Here's the problem:

On the computer I'm using, suddenly every mpg/avi/Anything NotQuicktime movie I'm trying to watch has turned BLUE. Colors seem to be inversed for the most part, and everything has a blue tint to it. There's a lot of people asking about this problem, but I can't seem to find a solution.

These are videos like the Star Wars EP 3 trailer, and the new Zelda Trailer - both in Windows Media format being screwed up. The only real advice I've found is to try switching from 16 to 32 bit color but that hasn't helped.

Any ideas?

Can you give some more details? OS, that sort of thing. Also, if you could link to an example of something that isn't working for you.

Here's an article that describes one way to detect connection speed. It basically uses javascript to test the load time of the page. It's not going to be 100% due to caching if you're not careful though.
