Well I must say I'm quite annoyed. I've been going there to get music for over 4 years now. AND I even have my own stuff up there now as well...

And it's going away...

Sure, there's probably a million sites like it now, but I really liked how it worked...

Oh well.

Could it just be CNet was only interested in the domain name? They've got quite a collection already (,, off the top of my head) and I'm not sure what other "assets" Vivendi Universal could claim the company had (any value of all those unsigned artists' work notwithstanding) ...

It's possible... but if they're planning to move the site elsewhere, they sure haven't told me (or anyone else it seems)...

It's kind of a bad time for me too... I just came across all kinds of music that I'd like to get for this play I'm directing, but unfortinently I can't buy it in time before the site closes (and they don't let me download it... and I don't feel like recording it manually...)...

Le sigh...

Here's hoping to everything just getting moved...

I snipped a little of it (perhaps not enough), but what's up there should give the basic gist of what's going on. As you can see, you can sign up to be part of CNet and re-upload your tunes, but I'm guess that a lot fewer people will sign up to do so - at least in the first couple years of the site, anyway.
