Well, if they have it in Maine, it's gotta be pretty much everywhere.

Mrs. JJD's from Oregon...whereabouts are you relocating? (I guess I could wait to see it on The W...orld.)

It's good to see that the WWE isn't backing away from Batista or Cena. There's still some questions lingering over a few of the draft moves they either made or didn't make (Jericho being a prime example), but the stage is set for a solid run to Summerslam that may send the indicator down. The longer Triple H stays away is also a plus...

My girl was in Portland for a few weeks back in May for her job. She loved it so much, she's trying to talk me in to selling my place to move there.

I just smile and nod and pat her on the head for being so cute (she's starting grad school this fall and is just doing that to annoy me).

I don't mean to leave you all hanging, but I'm packing and I don't have time to write this all up yet. Plus, I still work at the company that I'd love to publically vent about. I'm also not sure that the serenity and peace of Oregon will make me want to just move on and forget about the past, so I don't want to put it out there if I'm going to be over it all in a few weeks anyway.

Short version: This isn't about the money or the fact that I get to buy a house, but that does help a lot. It's not a huge amount of money but my standard of living will be roughly equivalent, but the housing market where I'm going means that for $300k I can buy my dream house -vs- $600k here for a house that I would have considered acceptable to live in and have kids. So - $300k in debt difference plus a yearly savings of $3k in property tax from now to eternity... The house factor makes a big difference.

I've been shopping for a new location for quite some time. If I have time I'll dredge up my "What's wrong with Maine" post from a while back. Even then, I was checking out Oregon...

Oh. And it's coastal - 70 miles from Portland. Small town, even. It's going to be great.

Once I confirm with my new employer that they don't have draconian policies about identifying your workplace online (See: My current employer) I'll let you all know where I'm working.

//edit: http://the-w.com/thread.php/id=21274 Almost a year ago... Interesting. This must be a seasonal thing with me.

Oh! Am I supposed to tip a gas station attendent? I've never gotten full serve before.

Oregon has this little quirk where "Self Serve" gas is illegal. So every station is attended under the guise of "Mini Serve".

Long story short...If you want to pump your own gas, you have to leave the state.

They've been trying to get rid of this law for years, but voters always turn it down because they like the service.
