Sometimes when you're card shopping, a card beckons to you - DEMANDS you open it and read the sentiment inside. I can't quite explain what it was about *this* card - maybe it was the use of the word "NICE" - but I had to pursue further.

While reading this, I found myself thinking many things. "Who would BUY this card? Would it be a person who would actually think - FEEL - words like *this*? I mean... SINCERELY?" I could almost picture it - he's in his forties, his wife's in his fifties, her mother is in her seventies. Also, he's of below-average intelligence. You can almost read the thought balloon as he scrunches his face in thought - "MAN! THIS is the card that FINALLY puts into words what I was NEVER able to say to Florence!"

And finally, I thought, "Man, I HAVE to buy this card for my mother-in-law."
I think another intriguing thing about this card is NOT that it cost more than, like, all the other cards we bought that day put together - but that just in case the recipient isn't going to be reacting as kindly to the sentiments thus far expressed...Hallmark was kind enough to add this face-saving stanza so the poor schmuck what bought this - who probably didn't even bother LOOKING at the BACK of the card - MIGHT manage to escape the holiday without getting a sucker punch.

Ah, what a card.

And of course, my mother-in-law thought it was pretty funny, too!

I have an aunt who is half crazy. The thing about this lady has an eye for and is really good at coming up with really sappy stuff like this and gets paid pretty well for sending in a couple pages of stuff like what is on that card. Granted you don't get any credit for it on the card and the card company can do whatever they want with what you have submitted, so if you are really proud of your *sensitive* side it's probably not the job for you. I've considered trying to get her contacts so I could try my hand at such at thing, but always thought the stuff I came up with was too over the top cheesey. After reading that card I might have to reconsider.
