| #1 Posted on 3.4.02 1130.37 | I've been trying to think of great finishers that no one uses anymore today and that rarely get mentioned. The only one I can think of was Nikolai Volkoff's over-the-head-lift backbreaker. I always thought this was an awesome move and Volkoff was totally set-up afterward to go straight to the pin. Any other suggestions on largely forgotten finishers?

No seriously , I couldn't think of anything except for .... THE DREADED FIREBALL . I remember when Lawler used it back in his Memphis days , but thinking about it , has anyone ever used one in the WWF ?

| #3 Posted on 3.4.02 1202.44 | I always loved Nikita Koloff's (I know I spelled his name wrong) finisher, The Russian Sickle. He would throw the guy into the corner face first and as he stumbled backward he'd clothesline him in the back of the neck. When I was a kid that move just seemed so damn cool.

| #6 Posted on 3.4.02 1215.12 | Regarding WWF fireballs, the only things I can think of are:
-UT used one on Paul Bearer at one point, and it looked like he threw the flash paper way too close to Paul's face for comfort.
-I guess you could kind of count the exploding camera from the Yoko/Hogan match at KOTR.
-I'm pretty sure someone used a fireball on UT at somepoint, but I can't remember the specifics.
-Kane did set that stagehand on fire with the magic fireballs from his hands.
I miss the Bushwhackers and the battering ram finisher, where one of them would run the other guy's head into someone's stomach. It was the dumbest-ass move I've ever seen, and would love to once more mock it.

| #8 Posted on 3.4.02 1224.05 | Hawk and Animal used to finish all the time with the spear (or was it a Lariat?) off the top rope while the other held the opponent on their sholders. That was pretty cool, as the opponent usually did a 360
The Blackjacks (Mulligan and Lanza) usually finished with a double suplex. Obviously, not a finisher today, but it was devestating in the early 70s.
And, of course, never used today, but there is

| #11 Posted on 3.4.02 1232.52 | Ah yes who can forget the Road Warriors' awesome finisher. You could maybe count Demolition's finisher as a forgotten one, but I think a lot of people still remember it. (For anyone who forgot, one guy, usually Smash, holds the opponent in a backbreaker position while Ax jumped off the second rope with an elbow. The opponent would sometimes flip over to add to it. I wonder if Ax ever hit that elbow from the *top* rope instead of the second.)
Also, I don't know if I would consider the claw a "forgotten" finisher. It is too classic to be forgotten. The Russian Sickle definately fits though, good one.

| #12 Posted on 3.4.02 1238.22 | I remember that "White Lightning" Tim Horner would finish his NWA Worldwide matches with a rolling cradle into a bridge. Boy there's a move that I haven't seen used in quite a while. I also dug Ken Patera's swinging neckbreaker/full nelson thingy. Oh, and Hillbilly Jim used a bearhug for Chrissakes. God, I miss the 80's.

| #13 Posted on 3.4.02 1239.24 | DMC, you're thinking of Demolition Decapitation. Dean Malenko and Saturn were using a variation of that as recently as last year, I believe. The difference is that Saturn would come off the middle turnbuckle and drop the knee instead of the elbow.
They didn't use it as a finisher, though.

| #14 Posted on 3.4.02 1241.40 | I'd have to say the Full Nelson. The last guy I can remember using it as finisher was the Warlord (circa '91-92). I can't even think of the last time I saw it used as a hold at all actually. Now it's only used as a setup position for other moves (Full Nelson Slam, Dragon Suplex, Bubbabomb).

Damn , Hogan used a fireball ?!
You guys mentioned the Iron Claw , but what about the nerve hold , applied to an opponents shoulder until he passed out . Did Mr. Fuji ever use that as a finisher ?
I always thought it was a gimmick given to a lot of Japenese wrestlers , well anyway I remember a guy by the name of Tojo Yamamoto (local Nashville legend ) , when I was a kid , that always used it . What was so cool was the way the commentator would put it over , talking about how it was learned in the Far East and how it took years of training to master it .

| #16 Posted on 3.4.02 1303.02 | What about tully blanchard's slingshot suplex finisher. He'd hold someone up for a traditional suplex where he then would bounce his oppenets legs of the top rope to give the move a whiplash effect. I think he used that as a finisher.

| #18 Posted on 3.4.02 1318.05 | For the sake of correctness, it was Sgt. Slaughter who used a fireball on Hulk Hogan in the back right after the WM 7 main event. That segment was not shown on the actual pay per view as I remember it, but it was added to the Coliseum home video version of the show.
My pick for forgotten finisher is the figure-four leglock, not because the move is forgotten, but I have forgotten the last time that somebody actually submitted to the maneuver.

| #20 Posted on 3.4.02 1321.29 | I should have mentioned this earlier but when somebody mentioned a suplex variation the old Power and Glory (Hercules and Roma) came to mind where Herc would hit a superplex from one corner and Roma would hit a top rope splash from the another. For the time that was something original, and I don't think I've ever seen another team use it... I could be wrong though.
