I third.

I honestly think the problem with the WWE right now is that they lack CHARACTERS. The boring average "huge guy in a speedo" sucks and isn't fun at all. The fanbase tide has shifted back to the early-90's mentality, in that the realistic competitor act is dead...but the Fed hasn't grasped it yet. In order for the product to stay entertaining, they need a cast of outlandish characters, with a few "serious" ones.

Rico is an act that, in the arena live, you look forward to seeing. He was over the top and, at least, entertaining.

I can't stress it enough; if they cut Richards, I'm done with the WWE. I have a feeling that it's coming, too. I have NEVER been so close to giving up...and I've been a money-payin' fan since 1992.

Fuck.

I also would say Rico being cut is surprising. I guess it could be the age thing, but really, who gives a flying fuck? This is as baffling as the cut of Goldust last year. You've got a guy that has charisma, can talk, can actually work decent against a variety of guys, and gets the crowd going and you cut him. Say what you will about everyone else on that list, and don't get me wrong, there's plenty of questionable moves to debate on there outside of Rico, but the rest of those people were potential v.s. pay, if not outright failures. Rico on the other hand, was actually realizing his potential.

WoW!
Jesus when will it end
I'm with dMp i have a thing about Asian women, as well i loved her i'm going to kick your arse by making you tap (in a number of different ways).

She was constantly improving and so was Nidia who could when she busted out a N.Lights suplex i went holy shit.

And Rico RICO. Why why why he was comedy gold my brother thought with the jackie/hass engagement he could have been planning the wedding and everything is garish. Bugger that he would have tried tom wear a bridemaid dress.

Oh well WWE's loss is the Independent scene's game (no i don't count TNA that's shite at the moment)

The question is to quote Goldberg WHO NEXT!

I guess the wrestlers aren't the only ones being cut. Story from Lord of Pains. http://www.lordsofpain.net/news/2004_/articles/1099759368.php

I guess this guy was in charge of creating Mordeci, Kenzo and the other over-the-top-wrestlers. I say this is the best cut of them all.

Dan Madigan, the latest cut, was also the guy who had the idea of turning Booker T into a voodoo character. This was actually about to take place back in the spring, but was nixed at the last minute (thank god).

I think you misunderstood me. I wasn't trying to bash on women's wrestling; I was trying to say that it wasn't surprising that Jazz got cut because what the WWE SEEMS TO VALUE is T&A, and she is not that.

Okay I understand what you are saying and I agree. I quoted your thoughts on WWE analysis of it and I think their view is BS but I agree with you it seems like they are going in that direction unfortunately... The one thing I been very complimentary to WWE especially on the Raw side is their diversity concerning the women with different women bringing different assets to the table. It's sad to see that looking like it's not the case anymore.

Now on to Rico, I feel bad for him. I'll get to his talent later. I'd rather talk about they guy as I been saying for a while that he's the nicest guy on the roster. I went to a Smackdown taping & he had a match on Velocity. During the second half of the SD taping as I'm sitting on my top deck cheaper seats. He was in some walkway behind the seats watching us watch the show. Of course someone saw him & the entire section chanted Rico. Which he waved his hands for us to stop & put his index finger in his lips in the ssssh gesture. Didn't help as he had to run away with his arms in the air so that we wouldn't take away from whatever hoss happening that will happen in the ring... I'm not a "Wait outside the arena" type of fan, but I do know some who are, and too a person they say Rico is the most friendly & gracious man on the roster. Those sort of people really make me sad to see go.

As for his talent, I think his ratio of making things work no matter how bad it looks like on paper is very impressive. Billy & Chuck for me would have been awful if it wasn't for Rico interaction with them. I liked his short run as Bischoff's assistant. How about Jackie Gayda, she was as bad as any woman in mainstream wrestling TV. I'm talking Major Gunns/BB bad. They hooked her up with Rico & his charisma allowed her to play off it & all of a sudden she wasn't so bad. Just thinking now we have Haas & Jackie without the Rico interaction, talk about potential zzz... I had my criticism of Rico, I think at times he goes too over-the-top with visual innuendos during a match & should have toned it down to a more subtle manner like Goldust did. All & all he was fun character that I though contribute much more than took away.

Many Rico memories I have, but one stands out which was Survivor Series 2002. The was an 6-man tag with Rico & 3 Minute Warning(okay that was one partnership Rico didn't do well, but those guys were horrible). vs. Spike, Bubba & Jeff Hardy. Jeff was really having a bad stretch at that time. Well Rico was up standing on the top rope waiting for Jeff to knock him down & waited and waited. Jeff was walking slowly back to the ring after finishing off a 3MW guy on the outside. A frustrated Rico screamed "C'mon Jeff, Goddamm It". Very unlike Rico, but you could just tell his patience was running out... Really sad to see him go.

I just watched what will probably be the last televised WWE match for Rico. Everyone of his matches had the two elements that I love to see. Great comedy and great wrestling. It's sad to see someone with his talent being chucked aside.

I did the same...kept wondering if they told him before his match or afterwards. Oh, well, the world may never know.

Yeah his match with Kidman was pretty good tonight. Rico was so over with the fans.

I hope Rico signs with TNA...He'd be a steal in the X Division.

I saw the Velocity match as well, and boy did it look like he was having a good time. I've always liked Rico, thought he played his role very well and always seemed genuinely enthusiastic to be out there. He's quite talented too. It really wasn't fair to cut him, its one thing to cut generic guys who weren't being used but Rico was actually getting over. And I really don't care about his age, as long as the guy performs well..which he DOES, better than a lot of them half his age.

A few thoughts:

Outside of Rico, none of the wrestlers who have been let go in the recent bloodletting/purge have been cruiserweights ( I don't put Knoble's release in with the bloodbath). Considering the history of the company, that just seems interesting.
On Flair: Between the book and DVD, Flair probably brought more money into the company than all of those released combined from November '03-November '04, and it is a safe bet that there is at least 1 more DVD to milk off of Flair's legacy.
Interesting that most of the wrestlers let go have had injury problems within the past year. Perhaps this is a message to the locker room from Vince that you work through injuries. Surprising though that Maven gets pushed when he should be one of the guys on top of this list.
If this purge happened in November '03, it probably would have been a safe bet to expect the name Bradshaw to be on the chopping block.
In terms of locker room morale, it probably hurts it. Also, is demonstrates yet again that the DivaSearchCrap and Tough Enough Bunch is a waste of time and money. However, it probably benefits the paying customers. If a guy is in the mid-card now, he knows he can't go out and half-ass a match and know his spot on the roster is safe. Also, it means that a guy who is safe but has a friend on the edge is going to really kick it into gear if they have a match on a house show to help protect his friend's spot. A little bit of fear can only help improve quality, as the roster knows Vince can cut guys quickly, and he has plenty of guys on the outside who would like to get back in.

When is the maddness going to stop? I could see most of the wrestlers getting cut, but Rico? He was funny and brought some humor to a dry show. (Raw for those who dont know, or are to stubborn to watch)

I will be sad to see Rico go, as for Maven getting the push, did you see how gassed up he recently got? I guess being buddy buddy with Orton behind the curtain doesn't hurt either.

I still don't get how they could get rid of Nidia when she did that beautiful stripper dance with Victoria which probably got the biggest pop on Heat ever. Also, Jazz was looking kinda fine last night too. It makes no sense to get rid of three good workers in a division that can barely stand on its own.

I will go waaaaay out on a limb and suggest that Heat is not a "beautiful stripper dance" show but, rather, a pro wrestling show.

It can't be both? Actually, Nidia looked good in the ring for the first. Also Jazz looked better in her Da Bitch outfit, but I don't catch a lot of Heat to see if this is new or not. I do actually like them in the ring, so the women is what I am more disappointed over those three than any of the other ones.

That IS kind of out on a limb, as I'm guessing that WWE thinks of their women more as a "beautiful stripper dance" kind of thing than as a "pro wrestling" thing.

Linda Miles is the latest one to get the ax. Not a big shock considering she totally pissed off Cornette down in OVW and was supposedly blowing off shows.
