He's still throwing out some interesting takes. I liked his reaction to Hogan's big game changing idea, but he has also been rehashing a lot of the same stuff as well. One thing he always like to say is this ...

Big Poppa Pump @ScottSteiner Your power we can save Tna,the nielson ratings system monitors every show on tv & cant be ignored
Now, this isn't how the ratings system works, right? I mean if everyone that followed him had a special box this is how it would work. Or am I wrong and now that everything is digitalized this is how it actually works?

According to Steiner Jeff Jarrett was sent home and he's claiming that Pritchard, Hogan and Bischoff got Dixie to turn on Jeff. Steiner is very close buddies with Jarrett and some of his tweets seem to be coming from Jeff's point of view. Reading the History of TNA Ebook it seems like Steiner was a very popular guy in the TNA locker room. I also enjoyed his take on wins and losses and how it doesn't matter if you entertain the crowd. As well as how pointless it is bringing in Indy guys nobody knows and having them face off with the winner getting a title shot.
The guy seems to really understand the business, which probably shouldn't be surprising but it really is surprising. Which makes me wonder if he actually gets tv ratings or not.

You're right, only the people who have Neilsen boxes would affect the ratings.

The Bischoff story is a bit of old news, but for new fans it makes for an interesting read. He is also not wrong about sending in Indy people to go after the belts when the roster is sitting on the sidelines or busting their ass for title shots.

I thought that DVR boxes contributed some data now, too.. or was that just internal ratings? Could that be what he meant? I would assume a lot more people would have DVR boxes than Neilsen boxes. | lotjx

There is a lot of discussion about whether the networks look at DVR numbers are not. The advertisers are not fans of it, because you zip past their crap. Yet, its probably the more accurate number considering the amount of people who have DVRs compared to those with Nielsen boxes. I think networks would like to use the DVR numbers, but the advertisers to seem degree are stuck in the past with the ratings system plus it comes out faster than the DVR numbers.

Basically, it lets the ratings agency know about whatever you happen to be watching at the time. Once they get the data, they can tell if you used DVR, when you watched it relative to the broadcast date, and if you watched any of the ads or not. | Scottyflamingo

So there is no box. At least not when I did it. ANd the second time was last year.

They use both. In fact, Neilsen's own website doesn't even mention the diaries, although obviously they are still in use.
Basically, the standard box (the "set meter") only tells whether the TV is on or not, and what channel is on. So the diaries are used to gather information about who is watching what. In the largest markets, the newer "people meters" do both--they measure whether the TV is on and what channel is on, but also track who is watching. | Tenken347
