For those outside of this great state, there is a bill sitting on Gray Davis's desk that would force any employer with over 20 employees to provide healthcare insurance that covers not only the employee but his or her dependents as well. So what does a business with 25 employees do? Fire 6, duh.

This is yet another assault on the private sector. I mean, shouldn't it be a pre-requisite for the members of the California senate and legislature to take economics 101? Who is supposed to take care of these costs? They don't just disappear into thin air. In polls of CEO's, California ranks last in terms of business-friendliness. I sit here and wonder what crack the California state government is smoking, and where I could pick up some of it. Well, at least it's good news for Nevada's economy.

California, making it harder for the national recovery harder one day at a time...

It's only good for Nevada until they screw the pooch on their taxes as well, like it seems they want to do these days.

WOW. I thought the economy was in the shitter because nobody had jobs...so the obvious solution would be ELIMINATING jobs, because if there's more people on unemployment...everybody wins!

My Calgary Flames are currently tied for first place overall with a record of 0-0-0-0. It's training camp, but it's a start, right?

Well it would be hard to believe that a company that's just barely over 20 workers is exactly just rolling in the dough, so it's hard to ask them to eat the cost of a health care plan. Under such circumstances, firing people may be a viable option. It may even be the only option, depending on the overall health of the organization.

Adding costs to small(and in this case, VERY small) companies is probably not the formula for adding jobs for the unemployed California people.

Christ, that made me want to weep for humanity. I get as caught up in this election crap as anyone, but to think which elitist rich white guy is in charge is worth wasting your last words over? Wow. Just... wow...
