There is just nothing Britany can do to get that kind of reaction out of people these days. She can pose virtually naked on a cover, and all it really garners is "look at her, she is hot! Madonna got reactions like "Oh my God, I can't believe she did that...." Totally different.

I mean, come on, it really is BORING nowadays! Who does not pose virtually naked on a cover anymore? Christina? Mariah? Britany is not doing it to stand out and be unique, she is doing it to "compete." I just think if your music is so crappy that you can't rely on people LIKING it to compete, and have to rely on horny boys picking up your album becaus eyou have a hott ass, fake tits, and can bend erotically, you are setting yourself up for a huge drop....

Granted, Madonna did a lot of that stuff later in her career, not til like 1990, but that that point she had 3 albums under her belt.

before the shock, she was just a sex symbol. Little skirts, low cut boustiers, lots of ass shaking dancing, etc.

Brittney is already on the path with the skin colored suit (pretty tame) and the HLA with Madonna (getting more contorversial).

With Madonna coaching it's just a matter of time.

And other than the business acumen, what real talent does Madonna have? She's not a good singer, not a good writer, not a good composer...She looks good and can dance good. That's about it.

And, sooner or later, she has to come out with another album, and that's when it may start to unravel.

She and her media people are savvy enough to put her body everywhere they can in the meantime, keeping her level of celebrity up without her having to sing a note. When the next album arrives and tanks, however, what then for poor Britney? If it is indeed true that her next album will include one track where Britney raps, this could be her "Glitter" moment, where she makes the transition from "superstar singer" to "public embarrassment, but still sufficient eye candy to hang onto her record contract."

Speaking of hanging out in the spotlight with no talent, can anyone tell me why the Hilton sisters are famous? One of them is ALRIGHT, the other one is nasty.

I just dont get it.

Which is ANOTHER one that I don't understand. Every high school in America has girls in it who look and act almost exactly like Anna Kournikova. This one particular girl can play tennis. Why is there a cult of celebrity around her?

For that, I shall refer you to Rob Sheffield's piece on trucker hats in the issue of Rolling Stone featuring Britney on the cover (ooh, denouement!). Like the trucker hat, they are "famous for being over". Kinda like Ashton Kutcher. Demi Moore? Was a trucker hat, now a Members Only jacket. Osbournes? Now they're aviator shades.

They are famous for having lots of money and the willingness to spend it. Both Paris and Nicky (Nicky is the good looking one, by the way, but Paris is the camera hog) spend a shit ton of money every year to jet around the world and go to every party known to man, mostly ones thrown by celebrities. The paparazzi follow the celebrities, and then suddenly here's two millionare girls falling out of their dresses. Pretty soon they're front page news. While most celebs shun this tabloid media, they seem to love it. So for so long as they're loaded and they love the attention, they'll be all over the place.

As for Anna, she's attractive, she plays a sport (which is a very "one of the guys" thing to do), she's on TV, she's rich and she's foreign.

Wisconsin Badgers: 5-1 (Penn State may not be as bad as they looked against Wisconsin's offense, but man our defense looks like crap.)

Minnesota Vikings: 5-0 (Forget Indy and Tampa, THIS was the comeback game of the week.)

I would point out the fact that I've never seen a rule against it, but then I'd have nothing to point out for a day or two. So I won't.

Hey now. We've only used our powers for good - and only then in matters where the Zims have set a pretty clear precedent. I'd rather not see this board become like other boards where all the posters decide that the mods are the ones who are responsible for their behavior. We're not responsible. We're here to move/edit/delete threads when it's needed, and to keep the board troll free. That accounts for maybe 2% of the posts on the board. The other 98% is up to you guys.

Everytime you're about to post, just hit Preview instead of Submit. Read what you just wrote, and then ask yourself:

Do I really need to say this?

For me, for whatever reason, I've found that at least 50% of the time that my post was mostly worthless, and instead of posting it, I hit the back button. Of course, some threads aren't so serious. And some one-liners can be pretty funny. Just try and apply some common sense.

Wheee, that was long winded. But I think there's at least some wisdom to be had in there (somewhere).

Delurking to post this article, figuring that maybe someone wiser than I can figure out and explain what the hell is going on in Ms. Spears' head with comments like these:

She says that being "some kind of 'sex thing'" isn't her?! Look at your most recent magazine covers, dear.

Maybe she's trying to differentiate between always talking about having sex and being sexual, as in displaying her natural beauty. You know, the whole, "women are beautiful creatures and they should be able to show off their beautiful bodies if they want to" thing.

But who knows.

Oh, for crying out loud, just post a link to full out porn why don't you??? Why bother looking at women in thongs when full-fledged nudity is just as easily attained?

And for that matter, why are you all coming to the WIENERboard for your visual sexual satisfaction????

Remember, its either this OR porn!

In addition to the above...don't forget that Paris (I think) is dating Bears LB Brian Urlacher. Seeing her in the Soldier Field luxury boxes, looking disinterested as hell as Brett Favre and the Packers made mincemeat out of her overrated, commercial-time-hoggin' boyfriend...priceless.

My local NWA promoter also says he's heard the Hilton sisters list "professional partyers" on their resume. Ye gods.
