Minor point, but there won't be a need to honor the "you're fired" stip. They were very specific about saying "if CM Punk *leaves Chicago* with the title." In this situation, he will not leave Chicago with the title and thus Cena does not get fired. I can certainly see that as part of Monday's Raw -- Vince smirking in the ring as he calls Cena out to fire him, only to have Cena cue the clip. | Shadowhendrix

| #43 Posted on 16.7.11 1222.03 | Instant Rating: 8.00 | I've delayed posting my Predictions while I've been attempting to reconcile my thoughts on the matter. As I've stated previously my original thoughts were along the lines that the current Punk / Cena angle was merely the latest tool in the ongoing quest to demonstrate that Cena is truly numero uno.
I've more recently decided that the WWE & Vince have realised that they have a hot one on their hands.
All things being equal, the generally accepted booking decision would be to put Punk over. However, Punk is leaving, he's wrestling Cena and this is the WWE.
Having this sort of lead-up where one of the protagonists is leaving the next day doesn't make sense. It is my opinion that the 17th of July is a kayfabe end date, and the actual end date is some point in the future, or a sneaky extension has been negotiated on the quiet. Either way I think Punk will continue to be involved for +2 to 3 months.
But even though I think the WWE realise that this one could be big enough to divert from their usual playbook, I have little faith that the WWE will manage to execute without somehow treading on their dick in the process. I still think there is a 40%+ chance that Cena wins via his crappy STF.
Enough preamble. My Tips: Kelly Kelly vs Brie Bella (Divas Championship) I guess Kelly wins?
Big Show vs Mark Henry Mark Henry wins.
Raw MITB Ladder Match Del Rio wins.
Smackdown MITB Ladder Match Sheamus wins.
Randy Orton vs Christian (World Heavyweight Championship) Randy wins a lot and that won't stop here. Sorry Christian, but Randall didn't agree to come to Smackdown and not be 'the man'.
John Cena vs CM Punk (WWE Championship) Punk wins. There may be some post match shenanigans, but ultimately Punk leaves Chicago with the title. I don't know how they'll wriggle out of the Cena's fired bit, but they will. | Excalibur05

Raw MITB Ladder Match Alberto Del Rio. Since he's also the number-one contender, I can see him using that to get a match in the future, intentionally DQ'ing himself with multiple chair shots or some such action, then using the briefcase to take the title immediately afterwards.
Smackdown MITB Ladder Match Sheamus.
Randy Orton vs Christian (World Heavyweight Championship) Christian. Sheamus attacks Orton to cause a DQ. Wouldn't shock me, either, to find Christian and Sheamus in cahoots over the next couple months. My fantasy booking would be to have Christian then demand the MITB briefcase when he loses the title to kick off a face turn for Sheamus.
John Cena vs CM Punk (WWE Championship) Punk. No idea if he's going to leave Chicago with the title or not, but luckily that's not part of the prediction contest! | redsoxnation

If they do that, they need to go all out heel with Cena and have him shake hands and celebrate with McMahon at the end. Only way that will work. They can then go the Bret Hart heel route with Cena, talking about how he respects the title, Punk was gonna leave just like Rock, the fans were cheering Punk instead of him, blah blah blah. Otherwise, it's just a reboot to where we were a month ago -- Cena as champ, ADR and R-Truth chasing him. | Niki

Bret was right in his situation; if Cena were to talk about respect/Punk leaving, it would just seem whiney. Also, aligning with Vince/power figure du jour has been done to death.
Heel Cena works better if he throws all the boos he's received over the last however-many years in the fans' faces--and not turn back once he receives cheers for being "edgy" again. A "be careful what you ask for"-scenario works a lot better, in my opinion.
I had a very realistic dream last night in which Punk won only to have Edge come back and win it all.

Cena would be right in this situation, too. Punk would be the one wanting to walk out with the title and disrespect the business -- yet the fans started cheering HIM, instead of Cena, who always does things the right way. Cena is the goody-two-shoes who does everything right -- charity work, kisses babies, plays by the rules -- yet still gets booed by half the audience. That's the perfect recipe for this. | geemoney

OOOOOOOH. Montreal Screwjob, circa 2011, but NOT a half-assed revisit ("OMG, Michael's got Benoit in the Sharpshooter, we're in Montreal, and Earl Hebner's the referee!" "Bret's got Goldberg in the Sharpshooter, quick, get Piper to ring the bell!" "We're TNA, let's do it for the 47th time!")
This time, Vince really screwing Punk over by making him compete in FOUR consecutive matches. Maybe even the two Money in the Bank guys give him serious trouble, so by the time Cena gets his automatic rematch, Punk has this expression like "You've gotta be fuckin' kidding me!"
BRILLIANT. But yes... who would then feud against Cena?
