Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't he batting like .150 with RISP and had a fit about being pinch-hit for? if torre's decisions bother him, he's gonna lose it with Brenly...
Ok, don't know the catcher, Prinz gets hurt a lot and gave up a granny to Shane Spencer in Yankee Stadium, Delucci is pretty much a bench guy but he's the last of the '98 guys...and Yanks pay up, so it's not a total loss.
I dunno, I would've tried to get Sanders back...or hell, Giles and Kendall, Rod and Chad's hot streak appears to be over...
Unless the Yankees have another deal planned (and since there is a joint meeting between the Tampa Family and New York Family of the Steinbrenner Mafia, its likely), then this move weakens the Yankees offensively and defensively. Even with a bad season, Mondesi was going to go 25 hr/25 steals, and still had an arm no one would run on in right. I don't see anything the Yankees received back in this trade helping them in the 4 team for 3 spot race they are in with Boston, Seattle, and Oakland. As for the D'Backs, this is yet another veteran hitter that Shea Hillenbrand can learn from.
Will the woman who left her nine infants at Shea Stadium, please pick them up. They already scored six in the first off Tom Glavine, and know more letters of the alphabet than John Franco.

I couldn't figure out the Mondesi deal at all, until I read about what happened with him on Sunday with Torre. What a douchebag - was he studying the Cecil Fielder guide to piss off Joe Torre? I agree that another deal is brewing, and that a potent OF bat is coming. I don't think we need a slugging outfielder, but I ain't George. Sierra/Garcia should be fine on this team. I could see them doing a Giles/Kendall deal, and sending Kendall elsewhere....not they need Giles....just George needs Giles.
The memories of my family outings are still a source of strength to me. I remember we'd all pile into the car - I forget what kind it was - and drive and drive. I'm not sure where we'd go, but I think there were some trees there. The smell of something was strong in the air as we played whatever sport we played. I remember a bigger, older guy we called "Dad." We'd eat some stuff, or not, and then I think we went home. I guess some things never leave you.
If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."
If they have to take on Kendall, he'll sit on the bench. There is no way they'll be able to move him along unless the Yanks eat a huge portion of his salary. If the Pirates are making Kendall a must-take in any Giles deal, both of them will be probably in Pittsburgh the rest of the year.....

They must have figured that Mondesi's upside was worth the price. I get the impression that Pittsburgh is asking a fortune for Giles/Kendall and from what I've heard they're looking to either move both guys or move neither. When Mondesi has his head on straight he's worth what the D-Backs gave up to get him.
How much does Jorge Posada make? In financial terms, if the Yanks did get Giles/Kendall, it might make more sense to keep Kendall and trade Posada. Of course, given Posada's popularity both with the fans and the team, this is pretty unlikely.
Just to bring this thread back around topic, it looks like Williamson will in fact be the new Boston setup man. All of a sudden the Bosox went from having a horrid bullpen a month ago to one of the better late-inning combos in the game.
All right, I'm enjoying Rhyno's "man-beast" gimmick: He keeps his hair long, wears full-body wrestling tights with a big "R" on the back and uses the "Rhino Gore" as his finishing move. Can't you imagine him watching the Discovery Channel one day while tossing around possible gimmicks and having one of those "Hey, wait a second!" epiphanies during a rhino segment?
To spruce things up, the WWF should give Undertaker and Kane last names -- like Undertaker and Kane O'Brien, the O'Brien Brothers -- just for comedy's sake. Hopefully the door's still open.
RVD is approaching the always-exciting "The crowd loves him, but he's not getting a major push yet" phase which helps makes wrestling so much fun. It only happens once every few years -- Stone Cold in '96, The Rock in '98, Shawn Michaels in '93 and so on. -- ESPN's Bill Simmons back in 2001
The Yankees won't move Posada. You'd be hard pressed to find a better catcher right now - maybe Lopez in Atlanta - and that will be all Steinbrenner needs to know. Popularity aside, George will spend what it costs to have the best, and since he's already got that, he won't bring in Jason Kendall just to save a buck.
Off the top of my head comes the game in 1985 where the Mets got bombed by the Reds 27-6. Pete Rose definitely picked the wrong day to take the under. Actually the mother of all one-sidedness took place in 1975 when the Pirates beat the Cubs 22-0.
