Looks like Best Buy broke street date again - I picked up the Monday Night War DVD last night for $19.99.

It's a REALLY good DVD - they seem to hit all the major points and defections during the war, and even talk about signing over Luger, convincing Madusa to trash the women's belt, Foley winning the World title and WCW spoiling it, the Radicalz jumping, and all the other good stuff.

Is it even barely objective?

and what matches are on the DVD?

This DVD looks great, it's scheduled for a Feb 10 release but Amazon released it on Feb 3. I've preordered and its on its way to me with 'The Stone Cold Truth' which looks great with the off-air stuff. Here is the full contents of the DVDs-

The Monday Night War - WWE Raw is War vs. WCW Nitro-
Now it can be told.
In 1995, two wrestling companies squared off on Monday night television to compete head to head in an unprecedented confrontation.
On one side, Vince McMahon, the promoter who created the WWE and made the industry what it is today.
On the other, WCW, owned by media giant Ted Turner, and run by an ambitious man named Eric Bischoff.
This is the whole story, told by those who created it, lived it and survived it. The Monday Night War.

As much as I can't stand Austin, I'm tempted to buy his DVD purely for the Eaton and Pilman stuff. I think I'll have to hold off until I actually have a DVD player, though. Otherwise, it'll just be sitting there beside my Ric Flair DVD taking up shelf space.

The Hollywood Blondes vs. Horsemen match from the Clash was incredible, and if I don't have it on tape somewhere, I'll definitely buy the Stone Cold DVD just for that.

Anyways, just wondering if anyone has heard when The Monday Night Wars will be available in Canada? Based on past history, I'm guessing, oh, April 2007.

According to Amazon Canada, The Monday Night War is scheduled for a March 23, 2004 release. It's a bit unusual for a DVD to be released in the UK before Canada eh?

The Monday Night War DVD seemed pretty objective - they talked to Bischoff about most of the stuff and only briefly spoke with Vince. Bischoff was all over this DVD.

Vince McMahon being objective? That's something I gotta see. Three years after he bought out WCW, I still think he gloats about it.

SD2: April, Year 3; what's the point to the Career mode, anyhow?

Considering it was initially to be "The Rise and Fall of WCW", that's not surprising.

How long is the extra that shows the return of Flair in 1998? Do they show the full Arn Anderson promo or just Flair coming out?

Man the Hollywood Blondes were awesome. I liked Stunning Steve Austin a lot back in the day but his "Stun Gun" finisher was really weak.

Flair coming out, hehe poor choice of words!

But yeah, I think these will be two solid pickups. At first I had just assumed that the Stone Cold DVD would be something silly or just WWF/E stuff. I never got to see any of the Foley ECW stuff and when I got the DVD I loved it so I'm interested in seeing Austin's ECW stuff.

That promo alone is practically worth the price of the DVD.

It starts with the promo Anderson was cutting in the ring after Benoit, Malenko, McMichael and JJ Dillon had already come out. They let it run unedited, until...

And right after Flair says that, it fades out.

An awesome moment...big ups to WWE for putting it out in all its DVD goodness. I'll recommend The Monday Night War...nowhere near as kayfabish, Vince-saved-wrestling as I thought it'd be. But dammit, the Nitro Girls only show up on one menu's background! What the hell?

The DVD is actually well balanced. They give WWF and WCW a good amount of time to tell their story. However, however, HOWEVER, the biggest piece of irony is that all the WCW stars say how bad WCW was at making the younger guys look good. They talk about the same guys being on top for too long and how since WWF was making new stars they were winning in the ratings. Look at today. Triple H same guy on top for sooooo many months/years. I actually gasped at the amount of times stars said all they needed to do was push younger guys.

I really enjoyed the piece on the dvd that had eddie in it.

They show Eddie's promo where he "quit" on nitro. Eddie comments that his promo was a shoot, that Eric had really thrown coffee on him...

makes me smile to think this Sunday Eddie is probably getting the title!

Alot of other "shoot"ish moments shown from the ding days of wcw with Jericho and others.

Bischoff comes across as having no regrets. Funny stuff with Eric on the whole Alundra Blayze angle...

JUST GET THE DAMN DVD!

Its available all over the place, I got it at tower records.

Vince is so diversified with his revenue streams that they'll never hit those WCW losses of 60-80 million per year. And he's still got about $400 million left from the IPO to absorb losses.
