Yes, 20 posts ago.

STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN IS A 100% ASS KICKING MACHINE. There was no way I was going to limp down the ramp on crutches for RAW 1,000. It was time to get my knee fixed. The decision to no-show RAW 1,000 was made by me and no one else. I have always taken pride in making my shots and have never faked an injury or illness. Pro Wrestling is a tough game and it was time to pay the piper for some of the damage I incurred in the ring. No gripes. No complaints.
The Austin/Vince video package felt like their replacement for not having Austin actually there.
And if you want the timeline, the link says
The reason I did not attend RAW 1,000 was because I underwent a major knee surgery on my left knee on July 2, 2012. Dr. Neal ElAttrache of the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles, CA performed the surgery.
The surgery was a complete success. I am currently three weeks post op. I began physical therapy a few days ago. I had a world class surgeon and a great medical team working on me. I am now working with a top notch PT team. I am still on crutches and will probably lose the crutches in another week. Then I will be in a custom knee brace much like the braces I wore in the ring for 9-12 weeks.
The Big Bossman raised the briefcase.

This is not to say that CM Punk hasn't been a very effective top level heel for years prior to the Pipe Bomb of 2011. For instance, he was cutting amazing promos on Jeff Hardy being a drug addict back when he was a hairy chested cult leader. He cut a promo after every elimination he made at the Royal Rumble and remained a heel. Punk can simply start saying "true" things the fans don't like to hear.
@CMPunk
“@ZackRyder: @CMPunk She played me bro” I got your back.
Also, Punk's is in the very odd position of having no one fresh to work against. Show and Cena are old hat. A Rock feud might last one PPV. He's already tussled with Del Rio, and he seemingly ended an extended angle with Bryan. Ziggler and Jericho (also past Punk victories) are on Smackdown.
Who's out there to move to the main event as a face or heel to work against him? Rey? That's been done. Miz just took the IC belt. Christian? Cody? Ryback? Even a returning Orton wouldn't be a new opponent. How do you sell PPVs with this title without building a midcarder into a contender?

Oh for sure, Straight Edge Cult Leader Punk was my favorite version of the character. But once again politics intervened via the Undertaker and dress codes and they cut his balls off again. Everything he did between then and the pipe bomb was decent (Rey, Orton feuds) but mostly forgettable.
Austin didn't want to do a taped appearance on Smackdown's tenth anniversary show either. His justification was that he felt that it was better for him to be there in person, or to just not appear at all.
Cult Leader/Straight Edge Punk was the best. And the clip of him singing to Rey's daughter was an awesome moment I forgot about. I wish he would go back to that character.
