Holy hell, this was a great game! Neither team could defend to save their lives in the first half and we were all better for it. Then the second half came, with neither team able to pull away. I almost thought McNabb could pull out a game-winning drive, until that pair of sacks at the end. Still, fantastic game and the Eagles definitely have nothing to be ashamed of. They'll be a force in the NFC East.

DeSean Jackson most likely will clinch Boneheaded Play of the Year, by tossing the ball behind him BEFORE going into the end zone. Andy Reid probably had some words for him at halftime.

And is it me, or are Jaws and Tirico starting to get noticeably sick of Kornheiser? Jaws, in particular, seems to be getting pretty irked.

Speaking of which, next week is Chargers/Jets, which should have no less than 500 mentions of Brett Favre and the Packers. Prepare your Mute buttons.

He is one hell of a father figure.

On a lighter note, I completed my fastest fantasy football trade ever by trading him for Anthony Gonzalez about 122 seconds following the final gun that signified my one point loss this week.

Stupid fricking defence. I mean really, NOBODY wants to bother covering Witten? Pfft.

If we can sort out the issues we've got at safety then the Eagles'll be just fine this year, especially once Curtis and Brown come back. If not, any team with a pass catching TE or decent slot receivers is going to make us look silly.

Not as silly as Desean though. Act like you've been there before sir! He got the dropsies on 3rd down on the opening drive as well, so not a good night for the young lad in spite of his 100+ yards.

Just the 500? Your optimism is admirable. Sadly there appears to be a HUGE audience out there completely unaware of Brett's time in Green Bay and who, once informed, need reminded of it every two minutes. These people simply must be catered for by the commentary team.

I'm not a fan of either team, but I thoroughly enjoyed that football game.

And as nice as it was to see McNabb scrambling like he hasn't in 5 years, I can't help thinking that if he keeps it up he'll be hurt in week 12 or 13, right after all the Philly fans have convinced themselves that they've got a shot to go all the way...

I'm also not a fan of either team, but that game was SO much better to watch than the absolute joke that my Chiefs and the Raiders played. I'm just glad I decided not to go. I'm excited for the day that Jaws or Tirico just haul off and knock Tony out in the booth.

That was a hell of a game to watch. Even with the Giants as dominant as they are right now, it's going to be a full-on battle for the NFC East title this year.

Now, that being said, what the hell is this all about?-

http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/Why-Tony-Kornheiser-apologized-last-night?urn=nfl,108035

As a latino, I have no idea why Kornheiser needed to apologize for that remark. He made a cornball crack about the translation. It wasn't like he made a mean sterotypical joke or made a 'observation' like Jimmy 'The Greek' Snyder. My guess is that people are just so tired of having to listen to him on MNF that they're trying to do anything they can to get him kicked off.

Really, I'm just tired of TK being blamed for TK in the booth. ESPN, despite the Denis Miller debacle, decided to go the funny man route again when they put him in there. And they can take him anytime if they want to. It's not like he's going to be that dissapointed in being replaced; staying at PTI and not having to travel ala Madden would thrill him, IMO.

Thanks for that. I remember hearing the apology and not having a sweet clue why he gave it. I had not heard anything that had sounded offensive even in an overly-PC way in the previous few minutes, but it was very clear from the way he apologized that he was feeling (or was being made to feel), "Oh Shit!"

It's an odd thing to apologize for. He wasn't making fun of the language, he was making fun of his own lack of comprehension of the language. The only thing I can think of is that he was implying the Spanish language is best used in the service industry. But that's loooong stretch in my book.

If I'm not mistaken, that's a pretty stock joke for hockey announcers (though the reference is to Russian or Swedish or whatever) and I suppose they don't figure there are a lot of folks tuning in who speak those languages. Or something.

Next thing you know, the announcers won't be able to call them "hits".

I've said worse.

I only remember this because I believe this excerpt is what caused Kim to send me her SECOND email, which was the one that caused me to propose to her the first time.

Ooh, here's a BETTER example of my Spanish translation:

Eddie says that Rey will be disciplined tonight, and calls out SILVER KING. Eddie says that the King will take on Rey tonight. They chat in Spanish and it kinda goes like this:

Eddie: I've written Alejandra Guzman over 500 letters but she never writes back

King: I wish they still showed "Gran Juego de la Oca" on TV in this country - I love seeing those people get lit on fire

Eddie: That reminds me - when are you gonna give ma back my "a la Cama con Porcel" tape? That holds great sentimental value to me.

I'll bet you're impressed that I'm so multilingual...

This really has nothing to do with this topic, now that I think about it. Let's talk about me some more!

Oh, wait, let's spin off another tangent. People didn't like Kat's rendition of our national anthem. (katdeluna.com) Hilarious (that they kept the comments)!

Good thing the Eagles signed Samuel to help shore up that secondary. Wait....

How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person Im portraying. Youre confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard, and I said You are aware that I am not really a wizard? and Peter Jackson said I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show. So I said Okay and then I said to myself Mmm.. How do I do that? And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

I heard people complaining last night about the anthem, which led to ponder this question:

what kind of uproar would there be if someone were to sign the National Anthem at a sporting event in Spanish?
