The card looks pretty good, surprisingly. MLW seems to be gaining some momentum with each big event that passes, and although it's still very indy, MLW is an adequate substitute for ECW... so far.

Anyway, the main event is a Wargames match. The catch is, the team of heels (led by MLW champion Steve Corino) has a mystery partner who has been showing up with a mask for the last month or more.

You don't really have to be a viewer of MLW to participate here. Basically, who does everyone think MLW can feasibly bring in for this event, for the mystery partner angle to have any positive effect?

Obviously, it won't be a guy like Hogan. So which free agent will it be?

"The Extreme Horsemen" of MLW champion Steve Corino & MLW Global Tag Team Crown champions CW Anderson & Simon Diamond & a Mystery Partner

vs.

"The Funkin' Army" of Terry Funk & The Sandman & Steve Williams & a mystery partner in WARGAMES.

---------

For the Horsemen, I guess: Justin Credible

For the Army, I guess: Jeff Hardy or New Jack

AND...

Here's the rest of the card for those interested:

Scheduled for the First Round of J-CUP USA, a tournament to crown the first MLW Junior Heavyweight champion are:

*Christopher Daniels vs. Super Dragon
*Jimmy Yang vs. Juventud Guerrera
*Jerry Lynn vs. Eddie Coln
*Sonjay Dutt vs. Tony Mamaluke

The Semi-Finals and Finals will take place the same evening.

*Raven vs. CM Punk's "follower" Nosawa

*CM Punk vs. A Mystery Opponent

*Jose & Joel Maximo vs. Damian 666 & Halloween

*The Samoan Island Tribe vs. Monsta Mack & TBA: Fans Bring the Weapons Match

*Joe Seanoa (Samoa Joe under his real name) vs. Mike Awesome

Others announced for the show are Mikey Whipwreck, Francine, The Sinister Minister, Bill Alfonso, PJ Friedman, MANA, and Rich Criado.

You're right, apparently it's just a "large event." My bad. But I hardly think nitpicking over MLW is worth the post. Typical internet, I tell ya...

It's not really nitpicking because some people might have thought it was a PPV and wanted to order it.

It actually does sound pretty sweet. I've never seen MLW- Iguess it's on the Sunshine network or something? Nonetheless, I would love to see Jerry Lynn, Mikey Whipwreck, Sandman, Raven, Steve Corino and TERRY FUCKIN' FUNK, all on the same show.

My guesses for the mystery partners? I really have no idea. I'm poorly informed as to who would be available. I'd love to see New Jack, though.

Oh, and how do you get to 1500+ posts without nitpicking and putting up one-sentence posts? Typical internet, indeed. Heh.

Looking at the MLW's roster (mlw.com), the only former WWE wrestlers they have on the roster include Mike Awesome, Jerry Lynn, Raven, and one half of three minute warning...

I really don't think it'll be Jeff Hardy, simply because if the roster would dictate that they're really not going for the bigger, established WWE superstars. And I think Hardy qualifies...

I've heard decent things about the promotion and would LOVE to see one of their programs. Unfortunately, we don't get anything of the sort here in Canada, so hopefully some of their big shows will be on DVD eventually.

As far as the mystery guy, wasn't this supposed to be Lawler's spot? I read this morning that he wasn't able to make that match because it was going to be televised (which WWE frowned upon). I'm sure they could ALWAYS get some former WWE guy to fill the spot (look at the hundreds of them on the indy circuit), or even someone who WASN'T ever in the WWE but has some cult following to them (ie half the TNA roster).

Either way, it sounds like they've got a good thing going there in Florida. We certainly need a strong # 2 promotion, but just as importantly, we need a strong #3 and #4 to produce future stars.

Lawler was supposed to be on the team with Funk, Sandman, and Williams. I anticipate the Extreme Horsemen's teammate to be Swinger.

Seanoa (About time somebody on this side did something with Samoa Joe's name. He was given that gimmick name as a JOKE for Christ's sake) -v- Awesome should be interesting. At the very least, it's a continuation of the AJPW-v-Z1 feud in the U.S.

I've seen a couple of shows, and nobody's missing much. It really, really, really wants to be ECW, but it's not.

I don't understand these indy promotions trying to emulate ECW. It was a place in time unique to wrestling, and it's rise to a strong cult favorite was due to number of factors that have since been diluted with the ages. Reminds me of the war protesters down on campus last spring. How seriously should you take some chick dressed in bellbottoms, with tassels on her shirt and flowers in her hair? I guess it could be worse, they could be copying WWE.

Considering the two mystery wrestlers were Justin Credible and Sabu...

yeah, it looks like a whole lotta ECW to me.

I don't see how Hogan going out on top would be selfish OR hurtful to the business. Hogan's STIL got a lot of fans out there.
