They didn't expect it to be done by the day of release, and wanted to move some more copies based on people assuming they could try for the million? Naaaaaaaaah, don't be such a cynic.
What I'D like to know is who he pitched as - and which team he played against. You'd think The AP™ would have had that information SOMEWHERE (unless the "journalist" in question was BIASED)
So what pitcher was Wade? And what team did he face? It takes almost two minutes but he does reveal that he was Atlanta's Kenshin Kawakami, facing the Mets. He had to select from actual games taking place that day for the contest - and it looks like that MAY have been his only choice. By the way, in the real world, the Mets won that game 4-2 (mlb.mlb.com) and Kawakami didn't pitch.
It also looks like 2K must have an EPK out there with footage from his game, which ESPN used in their piece - I'd keep looking, but I DO have to do some actual WORK this afternoon.
Ok, we all loved Vendetta becuase of the game engine(nevermind the odd choice of putting rappers in a wrestling game. Why did they go and try to reinvent the wheel again? The old game engine was fine.
