Okay, so the season might have started in some other country, but this might be interesting to look at by the end of the year.

AL

West: Angels
Central: Indians
East: Red Sox
Wild Card: Tigers

AL Champ: Indians

NL

West: Padres
Central: Cubs
East: Mets
Wildcard: Rockies

NL Champ: Mets

World Series: Indians over Mets in 6
AL MVP: Grady Sizemore
NL MVP: David Wright
AL Cy Young: Roy Halladay
NL Cy Young: Dan Haren
COMEBACK PLAYER OF THE YEAR Rich Harden !!!

Predictions:

- Randy Johnson will have a great year and fall just one win short of 300.

- Richie Sexson will hit over .256

- The Yankees will finish 3rd in the East

- The SF Giants finish with the worst record in MLB and the Mets will have the best.

AL EAST
1. New York Yankees
2. Boston Red Sox
3. Toronto Blue Jays
4. Tampa Bay Devil Rays
5. Baltimore Orioles

The Yankees don't look terribly impressive on paper, but if Beckett and Schilling are both out for an extended period of time, I don't like the odds of the Red Sox taking the division. Between Boston's injury problems and the certainty that the rest of the AL East will phone it in (as they seem to do every year now), I won't be betting against those damn Yankees. In fact, not only does Boston not take the division, but they won't even make the postseason.

AL CENTRAL
1. Detroit Tigers
2. Cleveland Indians
3. Minnesota Twins
4. Chicago White Sox
5. Kansas City Royals

The Tigers are locked and loaded and barring a total disaster, they'll easily get first place. The Indians are just as good now as they were last year and there's no reason they shouldn't take the wild card. The Twins might make some noise depending on how well Francisco Liriano pitches.

AL WEST
1. Los Angeles Angels
2. Seattle Mariners
3. Oakland A's
4. Texas Rangers

The Angels had a baffling offseason. Their pitching hasn't gotten any better (and with Lackey out for a month, it's actually now a major red flag) and they're stocked to the teeth with SIX (!) outfielders! But I don't rule out Reggie Willits getting dealt for some pitching help before the trade deadline and this is actually the last year of Vlad Guerrero's contract, meaning he'll be looking to put up some big numbers.

NL EAST
1. New York Mets
2. Atlanta Braves
3. Philadelphia Phillies
4. Washington Nationals
5. Florida Marlins

The Mets' one-two combo of Santana and Martinez is really good and the offense should be ready to go and stay going, because the last thing they want is a repeat of last year. The Braves were surging at the end of last season and they've already completed the best move they could make by letting Andruw Jones go. I don't think the Phils have another run in them, but they could easily prove me wrong and take second place.

NL CENTRAL
1. Milwaukee Brewers
2. St. Louis Cardinals
3. Chicago Cubs
4. Cincinatti Reds
5. Houston Astros
6. Pittsburgh Pirates

There are people actually projecting the Cubs to go to the World Series this year! Considering the Cubs have NEVER lived up to their hype, I'm projecting a third place finish. The Brewers fell victim to inexperience last year and I don't think they'll make the same mistakes this year.

NL WEST
1. Arizona Diamondbacks
2. San Diego Padres
3. Colorado Rockies
4. Los Angeles Dodgers
5. San Francisco Giants

This is the single hardest division race I've had to call in almost ten years. Any of the two teams I have projected in the top four could take the division and the wild card. I'm going with the D-Backs, just because Haren/Webb is THE best pitching tandem in the game right now (yes, even better than Santana/Martinez). I've got the Padres going second, with Mark Prior competing for a Cy Young throughout the year, just because some divine deity would find it REALLY funny to do that to Cubs fans.

AL East
Red Sox (2)
Yankees
Blue Jays: If I thought they could stay healthy, I'd have picked them 2nd.
Tampa
Orioles: If I could pick them 7th in a 5 team division, I would.

AL Central
Detroit (1): If Labor Day wasn't the 1st, I would say they would have the division clinched by it.
White Sox
Indians: I saw what happened last time they collapsed late. Thank you again Joel Skinner for the World Series Championship.
Royals
Twins: I am UNDERwhelmed by them. Stress the word UNDER.

The Lima Peru Angels of Tiajuana (3)

NL East

Nationals

NL Central
Brewers (3)
Astros: I think they will have OVERwhelming success.
Reds
Cubs: The first century was so much fun, let's do it again
Cardinals: UNDERwhelmed
Pirates: Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home. Why the Yankees play them a second straight year, 3rd in 4 years, is amazing.

NL West
D'Backs (1): Like the pitching, think the hitting will be better, an OVERwhelming choice.
Dodgers (4): Torre has to be worth about 7 games over Grady Little.
Padres
Rockies: I think they are more of the pre-September team than the September/October team
Giants: If I could pick them 10th in a 5 team division, I would. Very, very, UNDERwhelming.

“How is it that I am a good actor? What I do is I... pretend to be the person I’m portraying. You’re confused. Case in point: in Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson comes to me and says ‘I would like you to be Gandalf the Wizard,’ and I said ‘You are aware that I am not really a wizard?’ and Peter Jackson said ‘I would like you to use your acting skills to portray a wizard for the duration of the show.’ So I said ‘Okay’ and then I said to myself ‘Mmm.. How do I do that?’ And this is what I did: I imagined that I was a wizard, and then I pretended, and acted, in that way on the stage. How did I know what to say? The words were written down for me in a script. How did I know where to stand? People told me where to stand." -- Sir Ian McKellen, Extras

New York Yankees - The Yankees offense is definitely the better of the two so the Red Sox pitching concerns could be the difference
Boston Red Sox
Toronto Blue Jays
Tampa Bay Rays
Baltimore Orioles

AL Central
Cleveland Indians - The Tigers lineup is loaded but the Indians have the best pitching in baseball.
Detroit Tigers - Wild Card
Minnesota Twins
Kansas City Royals
Chicago White Sox

AL West
Seattle Mariners - Okay, it's probably not happening but somebody has to pick someone other than the Angels.
Los Angeles Angels
Oakland A's
Texas Rangers

NL East
New York Mets - It doesn't matter if Pedro isn't healthy. Everything went the Phills way last year, they only lost by one game and they added Johan.
Philadelphia Phillies
Atlanta Braves - I don't understand the Braves love at all. Chipper is getting older and more injury prone every year. Andruw Jones was overrated but Mark Kotsay is clearly a downgrade offensively and defensively. Smoltz starting the year with an injury could be the signs of him becoming a 40 year old, Glavine isn't that great of a pitcher either.
Florida Marlins
Washington Nationals

NL Central
Chicago Cubs - World Series? I don't think so. But I don't see any reason they can't win this awful division.
Cincinnati - Why not?
Houston Astros
Milwaukee Brewers - I'm getting tired of the Brewers it's been "finally their year" for about 73 years now.
St. Louis Cardinals
Pittsburgh Pirates

NL West
Colorado Rockies
San Diego Padres - Wild Card
Los Angeles Dodgers
Arizona Diamondbacks
San Francisco Giants

Division Series
Cleveland over Seattle
Yankees over Detroit
Mets over Padres
Rockies over Cubs

I don't know. As if Lackey being out a month wasn't enough, now Kelvim Escobar's out for the season...if he's lucky! Worst case scenario, this essentially puts him on the shelf for good. With Anaheim's biggest strength (starting pitching) now becoming a glaring weakness, this could just be the Mariners' year.

And considering that you hit the nail on the head last year with the Rockies, I'm hesitant to bet against you again.

AL East
Red Sox (1)
Yankees (WC)
Blue Jays
Rays
Orioles

Rays climb out of the cellar and are at .500 before a slide at the end of year pulls them down. The big two make the playoffs as usual.

AL Central
Indians (2)
Tigers
Twins
White Sox
Royals

Really, you could flip any of the bottom four teams and it won't matter. Tigers have no pitching. Twins have a lot of holes. Sox have more holes. Royals have Gil Meche. Indians take the division by a bigger margin than most suspect.

AL West
Mariners (3)
Angels
A's
Rangers

Pitching wins, and the Mariners made the biggest pitching move in the AL with Bedard.

NL East
Mets (2)
Phillies (WC)
Braves
Nats
Marlins

Pitching wins, and the Mets got the best pitcher in baseball and he's moving to a weaker league. Johan might win 25 or more with decent run support.

NL Central
Cubs (3)
Brewers
Reds
Cardinals
Astros
Pirates

What a crappy division. Cubs are the best of a weak lot, but seem destined to another first round exit.

NL West
D-Backs (1)
Padres
Rockies
Dodgers

The opposite of the NL Central, this division is loaded. Any of these teams have a chance, and all but the Dodgers have a good chance. But again, pitching is big, and there's no better 1-2 punch than Webb and Haren.

Playoffs
Divisional Series
AL: Red Sox over Mariners, Indians over Yankees
NL: D-Backs over Phillies, Mets over Cubs

Pitching. The Indians, Red Sox, D-Backs, and Mets are all solid pitching teams, especially for a best of 5 series.

LCS Round:
Indians over Red Sox
Mets over D-Backs

Two very close series. I'm going with the Indians more out of hope than rationality, but I think either team will lose in the World Series. And I'll take the best pitcher in the game to lead his team.

World Series:
Mets over Indians. Johan Santana, World Series MVP.

While the switch from Cena to RVD should alleviate some complaints, the inevitability of the belt's return to Cena (note where Summerslam is this year) and the poor initial showing by the new ECW are enough to keep the indicator where it is for now. The pieces are in place, though, especially on RAW, for improvements to be made to the IWC's psyche in the near future.
