Saw this movie tonight. WOW, what a great flick. No real "DISNEY" moments in it either. Just a simple film about a group of men who did the impssible. Terrifically acted, and the hockey scenes were intense. HIGHLY recommended!

Hearing some of the names from the other teams made me remember some great hockey players. Especially when they were playing Sweden, and Pelle Lindberg was in Goal. Poor Pelle, what a waste!

This is now my second favorite sports movie, right behind HOOSIERS.

You KNOW what happens, but you still get caught up in the game especially the game against Russia.

GREAT scene where they show the boys playing football, with a Jimmy Carter speech being played over it.

My roomie went to a sneak preview...he reported that the younger audience, who weren't around or don't remember Lake Placid in '80, didn't know who was gonna win...and when Team USA went over, the theatre went BANANA! {/Foley's Pat Patterson impersonation}

I Must. See. This. Flick.

Yes. You must. Fantastic film.

We had people cheer in the theatre I saw this at as well. There was somebody near me who was TOTALLY into the game as if it were live and real right there. Tensed up, fists clenched, muttering stuff like "Come on!" and "YES!" That alone was almost worth admission. That and Kurt Russell's KILLER Minnesota accent.

I saw it Saturday night (I'm reviewing it for my school newspaper), and came away impressed as well. Russell was fantastic as Herb Brooks. I was especially impressed that the hockey-players-turned-actors did a wonderful job acting, most with little to no experience in that field. And of course, the hockey scenes were first rate. Also made it's way into my top five sports movies.

Haven't seen the movie, and don't really plan on it, but considering the reaction it's getting here, I find it amusing that CBC radio recently ran a review of the film with the general conclusion being that it was typical American self-congratulatory tripe. They mentioned how cliched and jingoistic it was but at least they did agree on the hockey scenes being good.

I may have to watch the movie now, just to figure out if this is a case of Hollywood being Hollywood or the CBC being the CBC.

Because Hollywood would make a movie called Miracle about the triumph of the American spirit that would feature the Americans losing... These kids must not only be too young to remember 1980, they must also be too young to be cynical.

That said though, given that this is a wrestling board, it shouldn't be hard for any of us to concede that it's easy to mark out for a well told story even if we know the outcome ahead of time.

Time to go kick more light side ass, KotOR style!

I remember every minute of this game from when it was originally played and have just about worn out my videotape from an ESPN rebroadcast some 15 or so years ago - I even have the famous Jack O'Callahan poster on the wall of my garage next to my driver's side door so I see it every time I get in or out of the car - I had no complaints at all about the flick and got a kick out of watching some of the younger audience members really get into it - the hocket scenes were hot and you could tell that it was real players playing and not just some actors trying to play......can't wait for the DVD
