NEW YORK (AP) - Mike Tyson was arrested early Saturday after a brawl with two men outside a Brooklyn hotel and was charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

The former heavyweight champion was treated for minor cuts to his hands after the two men apparently retrieved an object from the hotel lobby and used it against him, police said. Police added they had no further information on the object.

The brawl broke out about 5:30 a.m. outside the hotel where Tyson was staying, police said. They did not immediately have information on what started the fight.

The Brooklyn district attorney's office said Tyson was expected to be arraigned late Saturday or early Sunday.

A call to Shelly Finkel, adviser to the 36-year-old Brooklyn-born boxer, was not immediately returned.

The two other men in the brawl also were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Police identified one as Nestor Alvarez, 24, but they did not identify the other.

One of the two men and a woman who was with them were taken to Bellevue Hospital and treated for minor injuries, police said. Tyson was not taken to the hospital.

Tyson, with a long history of legal trouble, was convicted of rape in 1992 and was sentenced to six years in prison. He served three years before being released on parole.

In a Fox television interview last month, Tyson said he was so angry about the conviction he wanted to rape his accuser, former beauty pageant contestant Desiree Washington, and her mother.

In 1997, he bit off a piece of Evander Holyfield's ear during a bout. Tyson's Nevada boxing license was suspended for a year, and he was fined $3 million. In 1999, he was released from a Maryland jail after serving 3 1/2 months for assaulting the two motorists.

Last year, he threw a punch at Lennox Lewis' bodyguard at a news conference announcing a fight between the two, setting off a brawl between Tyson and Lewis.

It was bound to happen sooner or later

I think it's funny that everytime Mike Tyson is in the news for getting in trouble with the law, they always list every single bad thing he's ever done right after the story.

Tyson and Jose Canseco both arrested within a 24 hour period. For some reason, I'm not surprised. And is it coincidence that Tyson decides to get in one of these altercations the night before a heavyweight title fight, thus taking the attention away from the fight and back on to himself? And, I must admit, I am greatly disappointed that Mitch 'Blood' Green wasn't involved in the altercation.

Well, Tyson was supposed to be on the undercard and then pulled out. I would have liked to have seen this fight. I think it's a good thing the two other guys had an "object" or else I don't see them standing a chance against Tyson.

Oh, come on. I'm sure that's not nearly every single bad thing he's ever done.

Mike Tyson is the smartest man in the world. He knows that the more trouble he gets into, the more publicity he gets. And more publicity means more interest in his next fight. So millions of people buy his PPV fights, even though the last 30 times they've bought one of his fights, they always ended up complaining that it was over in three minutes. But they keep coming back for more.

If Vince McMahon had a Mike Tyson in WWE, maybe things wouldn't be going down like they are now.

AhhhhggghhhHAAAAAAAAA! That is funny, if it was the true
story of events I might die of laughter! One question would remain though, was the "object" the others used against him a magic broom?

It is so sad what Tyson has become, if only they would have hired a around the clock head shrinker for him when he was younger. We all thought Tyson was gonna go down in history, now he is just going down.

Nothing will ever top the Tyson interview after his last fight, where he complained about having fought with a broken back.

Jim Gray: You injured your vertebrae?
Tyson(blank look): No, my spinal.

Over 1450 posts and still never a Wiener of the Day!

Oliva: You are the weakest link! Goodbye!

Stewie: Ahahaha. Oh God, that's funny. That's really funny. You write your own material? Do you? Because that is so fresh. 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' You know I've never heard anyone make that joke before. You're the first. I've never heard anyone reference that outside program before. Because that's what she says on the show, right? Hmmm? 'You are the weakest link. Goodbye!' And ye...ye..yet you've taken it and....and used it out of context to insult me in this everyday situation. What a clever, smart girl you must be. To come up with a joke like that all by yourself. Mmmmm...that's so fresh too. Any Titanic jokes you want to throw at me as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity. Mmmm? Cuz i'm here God you're so funny!

I believe it was TIME life books that produced hard cover books looking into the unknown in the 1980s. The books dedicated 2 pages to each strange story, along with a drawing of what they were discussing. I remember the Atlantis story.
