It looks like the career of one of my favorite NFL players is finally over. (msn.foxsports.com) I have fond memories of watching him when he was at Purdue and was happy to see him do well in Tampa. I do find it surprising that he lasted as long as he did given the physical problems he had during his career. While I know a number of people who paint a less than flattering picture of him personally, I have to say that in my limited interactions he was always unfailingly nice and polite.

Thanks for the memories and enjoy your retirement.

It's the fame and fortune of stars that makes baseball and basketball sports of declining interest. Football is more of an "everyman" kind of game, where selfishness is not rewarded but rather frowned upon (sort of).
