Hmm..so "regular" Tapper was in BARS...and "Root Beet Tapper" was in Showbiz Pizza?! Shows ya' where I hung out around during my 4th grade years! Naw, actually I remember playing "Tapper" at a big ass bowling alley, swimming pool/water slide, arcade joint. "Celebrity Sports Center"...anybody else have those?

I definitely need to pick this up. I dig my "NAMCO Museum" and "Activision Archives" discs. My only wish-list game that I can think of is "Xevious". It was a sci-fi top-to-bottom airplane game, where you shot planes and also bombed guys on the ground. I have it on my old Atari 7800 (yes, somebody actually bought one of those systems!) and played it for years. That game ruled.

You can get a pretty good Xevious for under twenty bucks with the standalone "Ms. Pac Man" Namco joystick - it even has the old easter egg - available all sorts of places but notably Target (target.com).

Even though I'm *so* tempted to get the Texas Hold 'Em game with the RCA plug-in jacks from, of all places, Jakks Pacific... I've heard bad things about the joysticks.

Sorta on-topic: I'm curious why no one has stopped mall kiosks that have been selling those NES emulators. It's one thing to download... but to sell at $50 a pop at the mall... come on.

I picked up the Namco PAC-MAN joystic at Walmart for $20, and I get called an idiot for playing DIGDUG alot.

How can I be an idiot for playing DIGDUG when it's ok for her to play UNREAL at all hours of the night...

Life isn't fair!

Anyone else want to admit to feeling stupid trying to steer on Pole Position before you realized the joystick knob worked like a steering wheel? I think someone should steal that idea for their next gen console.

I will admit to not figuring out how to steer until probably too long. I ended up going on the web to find out, since I brilliantly misplaced the instruction book before I'd read it, thinking "what could possibly be in an instruction book for something as simple as this?" But I'm with you - I definitely prefer "steering" with the knob instead of using the joystick (which was how I grew up with my Atari 7800 version).

Oooh... like a moron, I paid $50 for mine on eBay. But as has already been mentioned, they've got controllers for $8. And they have decent prices on used games, too... got NFL 2K2 and Crazy Taxi 2 for $15 each.
