Well Midway Airlines (local to North Carolina and the East Coast) went out of business last night. They are discontinuing their Boeing 747 service, and the majority of their employees are going to be "generally unemployed". After that, Midway is going to be absorbed by US Airways, and relocated for mainly Canadian flights. North Carolina economy takes another hit, and a friend of mine has to drive to Boston instead of fly today. Argh.
Click Here for the Midway homepage, and check out the Press Release pdf for the real skinny.

"Hate, who do I hate? You tell me."
"Who do you love?"

On the possible plus-side, now that there's going to be an opening in the airport there, you might get lucky and have Jet Blue set up shop. The wife and I used them for our last cross-country trip, and it was the best flying experience I've had (outside of the times we managed to get bumped up to first class).
