Via Deadspin comes word that Mick Foley is selling much of his sports memorabilia collection.

Two thoughts:

1. His tweet announcing it says that he is doing it to get his son gas money. It seemed hard to believe, but sure enough, his son Dewey is 18 or 19 now. Doesn't that make anyone who remembers the "Cane Dewey" promo feel old?

2. Does anyone know whether Foley's in financial trouble? Or is the gas money thing just a joke on Foley's part?

*raises hand* Dewey was 3. THREE. I don't feel old, I feel ancient.

Mick's got a rep for being cheap, so I don't think he's hurting for money. As for the gas money comment, a gallon of the cheap stuff is close to $4 around where I live. It might not have been a joke.

I'm Charlie Owens, good night, and good luck.

Dude's got some pretty cool basketball cards.

Mick is now auctioning off, at the same link in the first post, some really cool pieces from his career. The dress shirt from HITC, a pair of boots with the tacks still in them, a mandible claw guard, one of the famous flannel shirts. Some awesome stuff in there, and all going to the #10forRAINN campaign.

In fact hasn't the WWF/E always made an effort to have title changes and things occur outside of the televised stuff? I recall someone winning the I.C. belt at Madison Square Garden back in the 80s; they simply announced it on TV and showed the pictures....
