So, wwe.com announced that Mick Foley will probably sign a new deal in the coming days and would be back on TV sooner rather than later...

...Which brings me to this question: How could they use him? I doubt Mick has the desire to be a full-time wrestler again so how could they use him? New SD commish? Part time wrestler?

Ideally, it would be as a booker. If WWE were smart, they'd give him one of the shows and tell him to run with it.

That would be interesting...anyways, Foley has already stated he won't wrestle unless it's a very high profile match at a Wrestlemania, or some other big time event. If he comes back he wants to wrestle balls out, not a watered down version of himself. He's horribly out of shape as seen at ONS. He'll come back, likely on Smackdown and be the new GM. There was rumors a couple weeks ago that Long may be taken out to finally manage Booker T (remember how a couple years ago most everyone wanted to see them together?). Foley as GM might be fun and help draw ratings to the new "Friday" Night Smackdown. If I was booking, I'd turn Foley heel since that would be fresh and entertaining.

Hmmm...I love Foley, but geez, isn't his new book out right about now? (Scooter)
I guess he will plug it, get punked out by someone like Chris Masters, then refuse to fight until they have a hardcore match then put Masters over by jobbing.

Foley "reached an agreement" with WWE to be on television. That doesn't mean a contract or any prolonged stint. Just being on television may mean appearing a few times, cutting a promo and taking some punches. His new book appeared on shelves a few days ago, so I can't imagine that his involvement in WWE TV goes a whole lot deeper than that. As much as I'd love to see Mick become commissioner and stay for months at a time, I imagine he'll just pull the loveable goofball routine: cheap pops, book shilling, a few nostalgic comments, socko. Then someone will make him mad; he'll punk the guy out; then he'll get creamed by whomever "the guy" is this time.

Under normal circumstances, I'd expect him to stick around until the next pay-per-view, but that seems a bit counter-intuitive in this case. One, if Mick were to show up on WWE TV to job to someone, why not have him do it at SummerSlam and make an event of it? Two, if Mick's book just came out, why would you publicize it after it came out by having a big-ass match. I think if he were to show up in WWE and get his ass beaten for the sake of selling books, he'd do it before the book came out, for a big WWE show, and set himself up for a huge sales boost that netted him a New York Times Top Ten Bestseller right out of the gate... and a match that he could be proud of, at a huge pay-per-view.

They already had Hogan for SummerSlam, so why waste Foley. If they learned the lesson from 5 years ago, have Foley 'shockingly' appear at the end of the last RAW on Spike and provide motivation for the viewers to make sure they know that the next week RAW will be on USA. You could then use Foley to build to Tuesday in Texas III or Survivor Series.

I welcome his return. It's pretty clear that he'll be able to come out, get a couple of hometown cheap pops, and shill his book.

If he's gonna get in the ring again, I'll wait and see. The way I look at it, he's the reason people started recognizing Orton's talent. And if I'm not mistaken, Randy had the IC strap for months before that.

I'm all for veterans helping to get the younger/newer guys over, as long as its an entertaining feud. At this stage of his career, I'd rather see Foley mix it up with Carlito than Masters, though I'd be open to both. Carlito's offense always looks week, but against an aging Foley it might look better. Then again, maybe the guy who could use his help the most (learning mic skills) would be Shelton, as he hasn't shown he can yet carry a promo.

According to pwinsider, Mick Foley was close to sign a deal with TNA. He would have wrestled a couple of matches for them, which seems to indicate that he'll likely wrestle again in WWE and not just promote his book (linky: http://www.pwinsider.com/ViewArticle.asp?id=12761&p=1).

They've got excerpts from the Foley interivew on the Wob, and the deal sounds a mite more structured and complex than "do a coupla promos to shill the book". He apparently made mention of the fact that the contract specified a few matches, which suggests to me that he'll be around in a semi-active on-air role for awhile. They not gonna waste three or four Foley bouts on four weeks of TV, after all.

Fantasy booking: Work him into the Network storyline. Works heel.

Probable booking: Shows up to help launch RAW ratings on USA; Fights Kerwin when he starts insulting the looters and stranded in New Orleans.

I'm all for more Foley on my TV, but I think he'd be much better used as an announcer to give the shows some younger-skewed humor and real wit.

Wow, this is actually perfect timing for me. I'm the co-author of a Christmas trivia book coming out in a couple weeks, and I've always thought it'd be fun to get a copy of the book to Mick since he's such a Christmas nut. I would imagine that something mailed to WWE HQ could be passed along to someone currently on the roster.

I think they should use Foley in some way to get over Christian! That could be done by having him manage Christian or as his opponent and down the line "jobbing bitch" (similar to what he did for Orton in 2004)!
Of course Foley would have to win 1 or 2 big matches against JBL or someone like that first to reestablish him a little bit. My main point is that the promos between Foley and Christian would be pure gold! Those two already had great chemistry back in 2000, when Foley was the commish and always tried to punish Edge & Christian.

So far we know that the scheduled matches for no way out are Brock Lesnar vs. Eddie, Kurt Angle vs. John Cena vs. Big Show, Rey Mysterio vs. Chavo Guerrero, and Jamie Noble vs. Nidia. Are there any rumors for some other matches?
