While this isn't shocking news seeing as he and Dale Jr never really seemed on the same page. It hurts DEI in some ways though as he really is one of the more popular drivers and a good spokesman for NAPA Auto Parts. He didn't win a whole lot, but he is a deceant driver so maybe a change of scenery will do him well.

I'm personally hoping he goes to Joe Gibbs racing team to drive the #11 Fed Ex car next year. Waltrip has always worked well with Gibb's main man Tony Stewart and it would give Gibbs three very good drivers (Bobby Labonte).

Wow. I didn't see that coming. NASCAR's been relatively stagnant with driver movement lately, with teams just expanding instead of drivers swapping rides, but maybe there will be a bunch of movement this offseason.

I thought McMurray announcing he's going to Roush in '07 was kind of weird, though. I understand with timing it needed to be done, but who's driving the 6 next year will be kind of a fun one. (Maybe Mikey?)

I thought Junior and Michael always were solid teammates, but Roush is upping the ante on all of the cars being solid for one team, and Mikey always was lagging way behind Junior in points. Maybe Sterling will end up in the 15. At least he's solid on the big tracks, still.

DEI is probably ready to give Truex Jr the bump and will more than likely will pair him up with Eury Jr as crew chief.

They already signed Truex to drive the #1. It was announced a couple of weeks ago.\

Jayski's got a link to a story that has Mikey maybe driving the #6 next year with NAPA as the sponsor, but it also says Mark Martin's agreed to drive the #6 next year if Ganassi won't let McMurray drive it in '06. It also said Toyota's throwing a bunch of money at Mikey and Tony Jr. to drive their showcase Cup program.

Fun stuff!

I wouldn't be suprised at all to see NAPA, Toyota and Waltrip and Eury team up to start the Cup thing. Toyota needs a showcase driver and while Mikey's not one of the all-time greats, he's a two time Daytona 500 winner and his Brother, who IS one of the all-time greats, is a Toyota man.

And I think NAPA is all about Mikey. A pal of mine who is a store manager, says they think that their hookup with Waltrip has been the best add campaighn they have ever had. Of course, Jr's has been a big part of that lately as well.

Sorry, I should have been clearer. While I agree that Hendricks clearly won the second round, but who the hell knows what the judges thought?
