So Michael Moore goes overseas and goes with the blame America first. There is nothing more pathetic than a self-hating white-man. Mooore does manage to prove that he is a bitter critic. Hell, his comments are racist on a couple of levels too, though nobody will call him on it.

It's amazing that anybody takes him seriously anymore. Of course, you'd probably be bitter if you looked like this;

Enh; you gotta love a left-wing champ of the people who pulls these stunts and lives in a million-dollar home.

Could you please try to qualify your blanket statements in the future? It tends to make for a more reasonable message board overall. Thanks!

I'll never understand how you conservatives will be always rant about how the PC police need to stop being professional "offended people" all the time and all that jazz, and then go get your panties all in a bundle over something like this. Lighten up.

Wow, slamming a liberal on the FOx News site? Without even a "Moore's publicist declined to comment line" indicating that they, you know, tried to get his side of it?

Getting your information about liberals from FOX News is like getting your information about the gay community from www.godhatesfags.com

I don't know if it's so much the offensiveness of Moore's comments as the abject hypocracy of them (not to mention their stupidity). If he really considers himself a multi-culturally sensitive person and *not* a racist, then he wouldn't make statements like that, pure and simple. Personally, the guy is a big, fat, unintelligent, untalented loser who SOMEHOW got recognized as having some kind of "talent" and got his nasty face on TV to vomit his hatred on America for being a big, fat, untalented, unintelligent loser.

Somehow, this appearing on Fox News' site without showing up on any other major sites doesn't really bode well for me taking it too seriously.

At least I know what Michael Moore's been up to recently. Not that I really care, except in an "on, him" kind of way, mind you. Either way, I'm not entirely sure why I'm supposed to care about it. Just because I consider myself left-wing means I take Moore seriously. Heck, I probably wouldn't have even thought of him if not for this.

Why is it that the UK media so often picks up on the stories that the US media (ie major networks, CNN, etc) so often convienently miss?
Is there real journalistic integrity still left in England? How backwards! Heathens!

Uh, nobody 'picked up' on this story. This was not a news report. It was a column by a guy who went to the show. FOX News then reported on the column.

"What we did not expect was to feel so enraged at one point that we almost walked out. It was when Moore went into a rant about how the passengers on the planes on 11 September were scaredy-cats because they were mostly white. If the passengers had included black men, he claimed, those killers, with their puny bodies and unimpressive small knives, would have been crushed by the dudes, who as we all know take no disrespect from anybody."

You know, this sounds like a stand up comedy routine. Whether or not it was a successful comedy routine depends on how funny it was for the audience -- obviously one person who saw it didn't find it funny. I can't comment myself on how funny it was because I didn't see the performance.

Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Michael Moore ... yeah that sounds like good company when the PC Police start screaming. Good vital comedy can involve offending some sensibilities -- we've been seeing that for the last fifty years or so.

But hey, if it happened more than a year ago, it's ancient history. Everyone knows that. Moore's comments obviously occurred in a vacuum and should be treated as such.

(Edit: this last bit is like, sarcasm and stuff. Didn't read as well in the clear light of day )

Disclaimer: I like Michael Moore and find him to be entertaining and smart.

1. The major point of the original author's article was only brought up by Moore's comment, and was more of a commentary on the black race. The Fox news article gave this all of one line in their news report- "He added that Moore was promoting the very violence in the black community that is tearing it apart." I would go as far as to suggest that Moore's name was tagged onto the comment piece as to simply garner more attention than a standard "black violence" column would.

2. Note how Fox News failed to quote this crackpot-ish part of the article: "We need the Government to nail the producers of vicious filth." Yes, the true answer to racial problems in society is to eliminate "violent songs and videos".

3. Also note how Fox News, professionals that they are, quoted the IMDB and then claim that the Internet Movie Databse is the "Independent Movie Database." This isn't JohnnyAustin69NWO copying and pasting Meltzer's reports for his Kool Newz Board, it's FOX FUCKING NEWS and they can't even get the name of their source right?

4. What Gavintzu said.

5. Remind me of when exactly it became remotely acceptable to base an argument on someone's appearance. Posting a picture of a guy and saying that one would be bitter if they looked like him or saying "big, fat" as arguments against the guy in a list of insults to where they come before "untalented" and "unintelligent"- that all works for you? Point out that he's fat!

What is this, fucking high school? Would it make a difference in your opinion if Michael Moore looked more like Tom Cruise and less like John Goodman? I mean, honestly, what the hell kind of thinking is this, especially here in the politics forum where it seems as though everyone allegedly is trying to point out how much smarter they and their political view is than everyone else's?

Now see, this is a prime opportunity to say the following:

I seem to remember a bunch of people a long time ago who hated a lot of other different people... all because of the way they looked! Some things never change.

But I wouldn't say that.

Okay, that looks like the original article that Fox pulled from.... And "article" should probably be "editorial", which still doesn't involve me giving any credit whatsoever to Fox. Sorry, not gonna do it.

That being said, Gavintzu managed to remind me where I heard of Michael Moore last - and that was on Comedy Central. (Granted, this was a few years back, so my memory might be hazy.) Now, I would in turn assume that Moore was probably doing something close to a stand-up routine, Lewis Black-ish, maybe. (Okay, a little harsher than Black, possibly.) If Alibhai-Brown was offended, fine - he had every right to be offended; he had every right to write about it. It's not as if the piece is a bad one, necessarily. I understand a lot of his points (although I do disagree with him when he starts bashing the media later on in the article).

I do, however, take huge issue with Fox's portrayal of the article.

Fox said:

"God save us from such stupid white men," the columnist fumed, referring to Moore's best-selling book Stupid White Men.

When it was actually said:

The US radical and author of the best-selling book Stupid White Men was (mostly) clever, funny, angry, sharp, iconoclastic and sceptical about the lies and humbug processed by the US government and big business.

Honestly, if you're going to quote from an article, the least you could do is make sure your citations are right. Alibhai-Brown's reference to "stupid white men" is a play on words; if I could figure this out, you would think someone at Fox could.

And I was going to let the appearance comment slide, but I'll just say I agree with Ubermonkeys and leave it at that.

Isn't that what Michael Moore did for people who were white? Look, Michale Moore could be the fittest man on earth and he still would be a waste of breathable air becuase of his hypocrisy and racism.

Grimis said basically what I was going to on this Uber...I think you are unable to seperate my personal fellings toward the guy and the point I made about his being a hypocrit. When someone says something stupid like that, joke or not, they deserve a little ribbing IMHO. If someone can title their book "Stupid White Men" and then not take being pointed out as stupid right back, then he wouldn't be a hero I would admire.
