I'll leave this to the mods to decide, because I'm not TOTALLY sold on it's validity....but if it is, it's the greatest thing of all time.

I'm pretty sure this is legit - it made the rounds at some other message boards a couple weeks ago (I still haven't listened to it).

I can verify that this is legit, I was listening live to the show that night (in fact, I listened to their whole first week up through their Super Bowl preview show). Even funnier was the setup, as Cole had been needled a couple of other times earlier that night, and then he snapped, as we hear.
What we don't have on that site is an even better snap by Michael Cole the following night (I think, the whole week kind of blended together) when he gets frustrated at the producer for not talking to them into a microphone. He goes absolute ROID RAGE and screams "TURN ON THE GODDAMN MICROPHOOOOOOOOONE!" (wait a very awkward beat) "SHIT!!!"
They actually led the show off with Cole apologizing with this outburst the following night, with this exclamation being a repeated drop throughout the rest of the show.
I enjoyed the show, although it was a train wreck and completely all over the place.

But of course he must have just been counting since Smackdown! started. TV.com lists the episode airing 1/20/06 as the 337th. Now, according to CRZ's recap, the first weekly episode (as opposed to the pilot) had Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler as the hosts, though Cole did appear as an interviewer. I wonder if his count is right. I don't know if he's ever missed any shows for any reason. I expect his audio must have played over the matches in the Christmas "Best Of" shows, at the very least. I suppose that counts as an appearance. And I've revealed far too much anal retentiveness in this monologue, so I'm going to stop while I'm behind.
EDIT: I submit for your approval 9/13/01 and 10/04/01, at the very least.

| #15 Posted on 14.2.06 2032.17 | Instant Rating: 6.07 | Off-topic: Michael Cole used to be too corny/nerdy for my taste, almost like a little wussy or something. But he's gotten waay better over the years. Gorilla Monsoon will always be my favorite with JR coming in at #2 and he'll never be either of those guys, but I like him enough.
on-topic: I've ready somewhere that Michael Cole is NOTHING like how he comes off on TV, I think I even heard Tazz say that once. Maybe this is a little closer to the real MC.

Well, he does seem to have Bob Saget tendencies, if FrostyFreeze's assertion is right.

When Cole was announcing in anywhere in the late 90's early 00's, he was really God awful. Like right down there with Tony Schviaone. His announcing was downright offensive. But he did step up to the plate and did improve and really became a wrestling announcer we can truly listen to. | Oliver

It should be now. I think the ban got lifted 2/9.
Bad news on the Tazz & Cole show for you - it was a one-week tryout that Stern is giving to certain people (right now it is the utterly unlistenable Scott Ferrall), and I have a sneaking suspicion they won't be back.

Is he the guy with the really gravel-like voice who once had a national radio show, and he left it all to be a play-by-play hockey announcer ? If so, what happened to his hockey announcing job ?
