I really hope that this is just a stupidly easy problem that I can't fix, but I can't get my microphone to work. When I go to the Control Panel to test the hardware (as has been suggested to me), I get the following error messages:
"An error occurred during DirectPlay Voice setup. The error code is 0x80004005."
"Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe, use Add/Remove Programs control panel to install."
Try the registry edits there and also reinstall the latest DirectX.
Done. Still not working. Additionally, I can't get the registry edits to stick. I change the values, and I close the registry, and I open the registry to make sure the values are still there, and they're not.
YouTube Rickrolled the Internets! That reminds me. I heard of a Firefox extension that can make every day into April Fools Day. http://www.vimeo.com/780998 Just install on an unsuspecting coworkers computer, and direct them to a YouTube video.
