I wonder if the deal is worth that much if the Jays don't overpay for BJ Ryan. Word is it was a 3 year, 30 million dollar offer, and now it's possibly 5 years, 50 million?
Now word is the Phillies are going after Tom Gordon to be their closer, since Wagner is now out of the picture. I guess he'll be cheaper than Wagner, which means they could get a starting pitcher, but whoever replaces Wagner is a downgrade.
I'm a huge Braves fan, but I've always like Benes, and was happy he did so good. I felt bad that like you said, he pitched a great game after coming out of retirement for nothing. Benes normally has the Braves number anyway.
