| #2 Posted on 25.2.02 1253.50 | N64 was cartridge based. So most cartridges had it's own internal battery to save. The Gamecube is special mini-DVD format with no way to save onto them. And since it has no internal Harddrive like the X-Box you need a memory card definatly.
