The Retro Raw moment on Raw last night was Austin dumping the cement in Vince's corvette. It's also noticeable that many of the "most memorable Raw moments" listed on the WWE site weren't during actual wrestling matches and some of the more memorable moments were away from the ring. This got me thinking about the memorable moments that happen away from the ring.

For me, several of my most memorable moments in wrestling happened away from the ring. A couple of my favorite of these moments (not surprisingly) involved the Four Horsemen. One was the time the Horsemen attacked the Rock & Roll Express in the lockerroom after Ricky Morton pinned Ric Flair in a 6 man match. I'll always remember that sight of Arn Anderson holding both of Morton's legs up while Flair rubbed Morton's face on the floor creating a big blood stain where he was rubbing Morton's face.

My favorite moment was the Horsemen attacking Dusty Rhodes in a parking lot. They followed Rhodes down the road and waited for him to turn into the parking lot at Jim Crockett's office. They then jumped out of the car and attacked him. They tied him up, crucifix style to a truck and then broke his arm with a baseball bat. The NWO tried to copy this skit when they ran the Steiner Bros. off the road.

some other memorable out of ring moments:

- Stone Cold throwing the Intercontinental belt off the bridge after Vince ordered Austin to give the belt to The Rock. (featuring the Rock's funny line, "The Rock thinks you should fire him, Vince.")

- Austin attacking Bret Hart in the ambulance

- DX invading WCW Nitro

- Chris Jericho at the Library of Congress looking up proof of the WCW conspiracy against him.

- Mick Foley attacking the fake Mankind at Disney World

- Ric Flair at the mental hospital

- Ron Bass and JJ Dillon attacking Ricky Steamboat at Steamboat's gym in Charlotte.

I'm sure there's other moments that just aren't coming to me at the moment. I find it interesting how many of the memorable moments happen away from the ring. Maybe it's because of the rarity of things happening away from the ring which makes them different and more memorable.

Shawn Michaels Superkicking Bret out of his wheelchair. That visual is still in my head.

Rick Rude on RAW and Nitro at the same time.

King's Court with William Shatner

The Rock giving the Nation Christmas presents all revolving around himself.

Austin destroying Regal's Tea Party. Regal's facial expressions during this whole thing were priceless.

Out-of-arena "date" segments are a big time guilty pleasure of mine. Mark Henry and Chyna, when Mizark tricked D'Lo into being the limo driver. The time that Lita was forced to go out with Dean Malenko and the Hardyz jumped him in the hotel room.

But none of them hold a candle to the pinnacle - Perry Saturn and Dean Malenko's double date from last summer, when Saturn was in full-blown "goofy" mode. I mean, he ordered a bowl of mustard and a side order of crayons (the blue ones are for fiber). How can you not love that? Then Terri got pissed off at Dean's date who was smitten with Perry, so she had Dean distract him while she tried to hit her with the serving tray. Dean showed Perry a spoon and, if you have this on tape anywhere (it was on the WWF Action DVD they put out last year - which is pretty cool in it's own right), you can't deny that Perry's reaction to that spoon was the funniest thing in the history of recorded time. "Hey."

Then they brought in a mop and changed all of Perry's non-sequitors to "This does this so this can do this", and the humor was gone. But I enjoyed it while it lasted.

Two old school ones for me were Michaels THROWING Jannetty through the Barber Shop window...and, the king of all "so-bad-it's-good" moments, Undertaker locking UW in the casket. That was some good tv right there, kiddies.

I remember that vividly. Thanks for refreshing me. I'm laughing so hard right now I have to pee because of it.

Two other moments I can't forget:

Mae Young's birthing a human hand. This scared the bejesus out of me.

And, the Rock is in the ring, summer of '99, cutting one of his Rock promos, and this funky counter has been counting down all summer long. Well, smack dab in the middle of the promo, the timer ticks it's final few counts, and we are privy to Raw is Jericho.

In the name of good taste, I will no longer say anything about people who run wrestling websites and cats.

The return of the Four Horsemen. The most recent return, that is.

The most recent return of the nWo was cool in its own right, too. Hall: “Maybe if we're lucky, we can drink a few beers with the boys.” Nash/Hogan's expressions: “Ohhhh no you don't!” HA!

Not to mention Hogan's last lines of that first return promo. “God bless Vince McMahon, thank you.” (Crowd boos.) “And hey, God bless all of you!” (Crowd cheers.) “And above all, God bless America, thank you for the chance!” (Crowd cheers wildly.) Hahahaha...

The end of Survivor Series 2000, when Austin dropped Triple H's car from the top of the forklift. Of course, nowadays I'm all, “Great, Triple H no-sold death. What else can he do?”, but the very first time I saw it, I was in shock. If you ask me, the WWF blew a perfect opportunity to do a double-turn with those guys, but noooo.

Speaking of the Lita/Malenko angle, anyone else remember when Dean walked into a shower room where Lita was for the most part naked? I had a friend who grabbed that picture instantly and posted it on his site. Bad, bad man. LOL... (She wasn't naked, though, I believe she was wearing a thong or something).

Which reminds me of another one, immediately! WWF Rebellion 2001. Hugh Morrus and Chavo Guerrero are trying to sneak into the women's locker room for some “exclusive” interviews. They walk in on Mighty Molly, who's fully-clothed but not wearing her cape. She crosses her arms to cover her breasts, and goes, “Ahhh! How dare you walk in on a superheroine... without her cape.”

“Where are you from?”
“Earth, and we're not at war with anyone except each other.”

Almost all of the Angle-Stone Cold-McMahon backstage vignettes were golden — the paranoid hugging, the serenades, the tiny hats.

Edge and Christian, back in the days when they reeked of awesomeness and called everyone "chumpstain."

Austin talking to Tajiri (who he called Tie-jeery) as a means of comforting his troubled mind. Tajiri would babble in Japanese, and Austin would say, "Yer a wise man, Tie-jeery." Then he'd change the subject. Madness.

Somehow, the Bossman gets all the best out of ring segments. I still remember him pouring milk on Crash, tear-gassing Big Show, and pissing on Pepper's grave.

I really enjoyed this year's SD Halloween party. Seeing everyone dressed up and partying was extremely comical.
Otherwise, you can't go wrong anytime they tear up Tim White's Friendly Tap bar.

WCW Nitro, early 1999...that nWo elite promo (filmed in black-and-white...ah, old-school goodness!) mocking the IV Horsemen again, with Hogan as Flair, stylin' and profilin' in blond wig and boxer shorts.

The then-nWo (my GOD, did I mark out for that) Disco Inferno, your MC for the lovefest, gestures down at Hogan and says the Greatest Line In The History Of Our Great Sport:

"He's not wearing any pants!"

I thought of another I always liked, and it was the coolest Big Show ever was:

It was during the first run of GTV. The camera shows the men's room, and Show and Val Venis are standing next to each other at the stalls. Val looks over and says, "And you're supposed to be the BIG Show?!".

Show does this slight nod, finishes up and rams Venis's head into the side of the stall, knocking him out. Now - the coolest part: He casually walks over and WASHES HIS HANDS, muttering something about Val being a smartass under his breath, like nothing out of the ordinary happened. Show rules, he really does.

(I also like anytime anybody ever told off the Rock, especially when Mick thought Rocky threw his book in the trash.)

Jericho's first night on RAW. The exchange with Rock was great. of course, their exchange last eyar was even better.

Anything Edge and Christian did, especially when they sat at the announcers table and were telling JR and Lawlwer what they were going to do "It's called a "run-in".

Angle and Austin fighting over Vince's affection. The cowboy hat Stone Cold gave Angle. Classic.

Austin to Booker: "Can I AXE you sometyhing".

Austin with Tie-jeery.

"We are EEEEEEEVIL."

Kane's hilarious send up of Hogan and Rock.

Big Show's Hukster.

Jericho to some woman (I forget who): "How you doing? Chris Jericho. HUGE rock star."

Goldust send up of the Crocodile Hunter with X-Pac and Big Show.

"Milk-O-Mania"......the single greatest moment of the Invasion Angle.

"Billy Gunn talks to God"........when the Rock was on his game, he was ON his game. This promo was a classic.

"Meat runs into shit".......ok, not classic by any means, but just when you thought there were NO more ideas for Stasiak, they made him the bumbling idiot.

"Any Angle promo with Rey-Rey"........'nuff said.

"So this is the Pacific Northwest, huh? What a dump," said Angle, "Why do we have to come to Seattle? If it wasn't for Kurt Cobain and 'Frasier,' nobody outside this rain forest would even know who you people are."

For me, when The Rock came back after his first stint in Hollywood RAW was in Philly.

Seeing the Rocky Statue, then the camera pans to the right...and the crowd explodes. The Peoples Eyebrow, then commercial. Priceless.

Austin and Angle on the Bridge, with Austin begging Angle not to toss him over. Great Stuff.

Booker T in the Church hiding from Austin, in the Confessional Booth, with that hot chick.

Oh and Austin chasing Booker through the supermarket. "Price check on a can o'whoop ass!"

hahaha!
