As i'm going through Da Meltz's Judgment Day coverage, he keeps making side comments about Melina/MNM and politics backstage...

Did I miss something? Since I didn't see any prior news stories on this at all. Anyone know the deal?

Someone else can/will probably flesh this out further, but I remember reading about a lot of heat on Nitro and Melina spending a lot of time together (they're dating) and kind of being isolated from everyone else. It's apparently bad enough where Mercury is distancing himself from the others.

I had not heard it about Nitro, but I had heard it that Melina wasn't much into hanging out with the rest of the crew. And it was implied that she was getting heat for that. What I don't understand is why. I hadn't heard anyone say that she hasn't been professional on the job. Why would hanging with the crew during the down time be a job requirement? Why should that upset anyone? Maybe there's more than what has been reported?

I guess if she gets sent to RAW, she will at least have an ally in Mick Foley.

I imagine it's like being on a team. You don't HAVE to hang out with each other, but it helps with chemistry and bonding. Furthermore, if everybody but one guy/girl is into group bonding, how's that going to reflect on that one guy/girl?

Dave Meltz just gave his weekly update on the Live Audio Wrestling radio show tonight, he addressed the issue in more detail. Apprently, Melina has alot of heat after the fight with Sharmel, and Vince had a talk with her on Tuesday. Undertaker held "court" with the locker room concerning Melina's stuck up attitude a few weeks ago. MNM is being broken up as punishment. Dave says he will explain the story more in dept in his next Observer issue. As of now, MNM is done as a tag team permanently.

I love how WWE punishments hurt the WWE. What other team is there Kendrick/London to feud with? Also, if anything, this will probably create heat between Nitro and Mercury because of the split.

Seriously, they should just combine the Tag Team "division".

I've been reading in the newsletters for awhile now vague stories about Melina not being liked backstage. In fact she was supposedly taken to a late night "Wrestler's Court" on a recent overseas trip for being stuck up.

As for recent stuff, there's the before mentioned story about much of the locker room feeling that Melina and Nitro are isolating themselves from everyone else, and also I've heard people say Melina has a rep for being a shit stirrer and may have been involved with the Batista/Booker fight. Ooooh look at me dish the hot gossipy.

Meltz did report about a fight between Melina/Sharmell, which was probably the last straw for her. Book/Batista was a work - notice WWE.com only reported about 1 of those stories. Why wouldn't they have reported both if they're intent on "scooping" the news sites? And that's on top of Meltzer saying it was a work.

Anyway, too bad, because MNM could have been a money-making tag team for the company. They could have easily turned them face and had them over like gang-busters. Cocky, good-looking dudes w/ the hot valet. This team could/should have been HUGE.

What other team is there Kendrick/London to feud with?

Well, if you want to feed them a heel team, why not the Gymini? They're stiffs, but if it is done to put over L/K, might as well get some use out of them. Maybe Nunzio/Vito? Play off the Vito storyline for a quick feud. There's always Kash/Noble, which is the preferable match-up. Those 2 teams feuding = goodness.

You know who'd be better than Noble/Kash? Benoit/Scott. It'd be somewhat of a demotion for Benoit, but it'd help get Scott over and it'd totally legitimise L&K as champs.

I just want to see them get through the week with the belts, however.

To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. This is interesting because there are also rumors that Melina and Batista are secretly dating (he's married, which makes it worse) and that's why Melina went after Sharmell during the Batista/Booker "incident."

Now we just have to figure out if Taker doing the "wrestler's court" is why he lost to Khali CLEAN.

So what, now they move them to RAW as punishment?

Poor Joey Mercury ... that guy has been one of the unsung heroes for the SD roster. Provided that the MNM team is done, maybe he'll at least get a chance to go to ECW as Joey Matthews.

"Wrestler's Court" has been going on for a long time. Taker leads it because he's the senior guy in the locker room. That's got nothing to do w/ Taker doing the clean job.

The post-JD show from PWInsider.com made reference to Mercury having to deal with some "personal issues" that could have been a factor in the team split.

True, Joey has always been very good I think. I think it was good for Johnny to teamed up with somebody who has been working as many years as Joey. I'm not sure how good Johnny will be on his own, but like you said hopefully we'll still see Joey in either WWE or ECW.

This story really just comes off as a bunch of bullshit. I don't mean the truth of it, but in the way everything has happened. I can't believe that the Smackdown locker room would operate like the preppy clique of a high school, they should be ashamed of themselves. It'd be bad enough if they were acting like this for good reason, but they aren't. There is NO evidence to point to Batista ignoring his wife (a wife whom he supported through a frickin' cancer battle, no less) for Melina, there is NO evidence to point towards Melina or Nitro harboring any "holier than thou" attitude towards the others except for a load of tabloid-esque gossip and the (according to Mick Foley himself) shyness of Melina, which is now apparently mistaken for arrogance, and Nitro acting like he is....GASP....*in love with her*.

This whole story is just high school to the extreme. Batista has been nothing but humble and gracious. Nitro and Melina are a frickin' couple. Melina is SHY and QUIET. And poor Joey Mercury's done nothing except attempt to give tag-team wrestling a shot in the arm. Yet because of some inability for wrestlers to grow the hell up backstage, the WWE is now shooting itself in the foot. I don't know how they expect to regain any of their popularity from the Attitude era, or how they expect to continually remain on top, if they keep alienating top talent and the fans the way they do. I'm just sickened by all of this.

The longer time goes by, the more I think that the fight wasn't a work. The "work" argument has only two points.

1. A friend of Batista was told by Batista that it was a work.

2. The WWE website reported the story and said the fight lasted five minutes.

For point one, every single wrestler and person that witnessed the fight has claimed it was a shoot and that it had been brewing for awhile. Batista's face cuts and Booker's black eye sure looked real. The Torch says that Booker dominated the fight except for a Batista sucker punch as they were being pulled apart. So either this was the best worked fight ever, all the boys have all of a sudden decided to work all the newsletters, or this was a real fight and Batista told his friend it wasn't to save face.

For point two, the WWE.com website is going in a more worked news direction under Michael Cole, but it's still trying to break a story here and there. So they exagerated the story, the whole argument and fight lasted five minutes, but the real fight lasted a fraction of that. I don't think WWE.com is going to try and report on every little tidbit like "People backstage don't like Melina!" but in the case of a real fight that's sure to leaked to everyone, they are going to try to break the news and spin it the way they want.

In the back of my head there's still a very slim chance that this is a work, but if it's a work it's an incredible one. To the point where newsletters are reporting that there are no plans for a Batista/Booker feud anytime soon. So it'd be a work that leads nowhere right now.

We know very little about this situation. As unfair as it is to pigeon-hole Nitro and Melina as being difficult, it'd be just as unfair for us to assume that it's the rest of the lockerroom that's at fault.

Well, if that's the case, I stand corrected.

I can't believe that the Smackdown locker room would operate like the preppy clique of a high school, they should be ashamed of themselves.

How long have you been following professional wrestling? Many news reports about both brand's locker rooms over the years point out the petty stuff that goes on. People get heat on themselves for the silliest reasons. This type of stuff isn't anything new.

It's pretty lame. They went through the same stuff with Palmer Canon and the Dicks, but neither of those incidents ended up squandering anything near the potential of MNM.

I think he changed his mind. At first, a friend of Batista's told Meltz that Batista told the friend that it was a work and DB wouldn't risk injuring himself. Then Meltzer and the friend started to assume that's just what Batista said to save face from getting his ass beat.

I'd be fine with all of those except I'd rather just keep them away from the Gymini since any time they're booked together is a chance for someone to go "hmm maybe Gymini should win" and it's LOD3000 all over again. K&L actually overcoming the Gymini would be swell though.

Noble & Kash would be awesome and finally pay off the Kidman & London vs. Noble & Chavo tag title feud from two years ago that never got started because Chavo got hurt and Noble got fired.

There might be bigger plans for Super Crazy as a single but obviously K&L vs. the Mexicools in a threeway tag feud with Kash Jamie would be the awesomest, but "they should turn the tag division over to cruiserweight teams having great matches" always seems too good to be true even when it looks like it's about to happen.

Oh shit Gregory Helms and Shannon Moore as team four. Oh shit this is going to be so awesome and non-existent.
