I'm on a cable modem, so speed is not a problem.
I have the latest version of WMP, so that's not it.
I have enabled .avi files in WMP, so that's not it.
Any suggestions or ideas as to what the dealio might be?

| #2 Posted on 20.7.04 1059.11 | Instant Rating: 6.72 | Has happened to me forever. I usually just wind up downloading the file and playing from my computer. Of course, I'm sure there's a fix and/or an alternate player, but I'm lazy, and I don't play a lot of .AVIs.

| #3 Posted on 20.7.04 1458.54 | Instant Rating: 6.64 | nowadays, .avi files are usually encoded in compression codecs like DivX and XviD. So you might need one of those two codecs. You don't have to download their players, there should be an option to just download the codec, which will install itself in the Media Player directory. That may likely fix your problem.
