I believe that "Me thinks" was the new catchy phrase back in about 1597, back when Bill Shakespeare was booking "Frydae Nought SmackethDowne!" from the Globe Theatre in London Towne.

Sorry to say I can't find any humor in the actual story there. My sense of schadenfreude doesn't go quite that far.

I think that this will not end well for nick. On the up side this will find it's way into Hogan knows best and we will see how they try to make nick out to be the victim.

Old Billy Shakespeare stole it from Pieman though.

No charges have been filed? Wasn't Nick driving 5 times over/past the speed limit and possibly drunk? What is the holdup on the investigation?

It's also been said he may have been racing daddy at the time which explains why Hogan was at the scene so quickly.

Well, there's no rush on pressing charges on this. The longer they take probably means that they are waiting to make sure they have as much evidence as they can get before they lay the strongest charge they think will stick.

Also, as macabre as it may sound, they were probably waiting to see how badly the passenger is gonna end up before seeing what charge is most appropriate.

That was one of the early theories, but I think it was dismissed pretty quickly. I think even the police threw that idea out.

I can't remember if I read it on CNN.com after the crash, but I do remember a quote from Nick that he rang up about three speeding tickets in about an hour and all three cops let him go with a warning because of who he is.

Since getting his licence in September of last year he has actually received tickets for 115 mph in 70 mile zone, 57 in a 30, and 106 in a 70.

In California, you earn "points" by getting moving violations (tickets). Some are worth more than others, most are 1 or 2 points a piece. If you accrue a certain amount of points within a certain amount of time, you get your license suspended. That happened to me once because I got a speeding ticket and a stop sign ticket within the same 6 months. Can any Floridian W's tell me if Florida has the "points" system? How about other states?

Also in CA, if you're caught going 20 mph over the speed limit, that's considered "wreckless driving" so it's a mandatory impounding of your car & a trip to jail. I assume that's not the case in FL?

115 mph in 70 mile zone, 57 in a 30, and 106 in a 70 all within the same year sounds pretty crazy and I'm suprised he still has a license at all.

Wisconsin has the points system too. A suspension comes if you get more than 12 points in a year (an infraction is somewhere between 2 and 6 points).

It appears Florida does as well.

Unfortunately, they only 'happened' if they were ever reported by cops who aren't star struck.

Who cares about the state. I can safely say that any of my kids would only get one of those tickets in a year because that would be the last time they were allowed to drive in that year. I think if I were the father of the injured kid, then I'd be even angrier at the parents for letting their child drive after that kind of driving record. Especially if he's bragging about the tickets he avoided due to starstruck cops.

Of course, it is also sheer idiocy to give a 17 year old unsupervised time in a Viper (much less actually giving him the car).

Not only is there a point system, but recently Florida passed a law where an officer can determine if a driver was drag racing, if so the car is impounded and the license is immediately suspended for one year.

You would think Nick would have his license pulled... but money talks.

This really sucks for Edge. Hopoefully, come NWO 2004, they'll build up his return nicely, maybe even have him win the SmackDown! Title at WM20. Of course, this is assuming that somebody from Raw wins the Rumble, which could well happen.
