John McCain said he's thankful there will be a week of rehearsals before he guest hosts "Saturday Night Live" this fall. Jennifer Skorlich, NBC's director of non-prime-time programming, confirmed Thursday that McCain will be an SNL host. The date of McCain's appearance was not immediately announced. "It impresses my kids. That, alone, is sufficient reason to do it," McCain told The Arizona Republic. "It's the first time my 17-year-old daughter has been impressed since she (became) a teenager." McCain said recent polls have shown that many young people get their political news from Jay Leno, David Letterman, "SNL," or Comedy Central. "It's scary, but true," he said. As for the content of his opening monologue, McCain said he's still deciding what he'll say. McCain, who ran unsuccessfully for president in 2000, will be follow other politicians who have guest hosted "SNL," from former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani to former Sen. George McGovern. I can't think of anyone that would replace him. Also in the past, when politicians host SNL, those episodes are bad with the exception of Guilani. "Catching Hitler was neato!" "Next stop, Hirohito!" No -- what was worse was the *real* Janet Reno's Dance Party in Florida. The Daily Show played some of the b-roll of that... *ugh* :(

AIM: # 5 Posted on 26.7.02 2253.27 I seem to remember Steve Forbes on SNL at some point, and being in awe of how hypnotically bad it was. Though perhaps this was just a nightmare I had or something. You never know when you'll meet that special someone... the someone that's mysteriously blind to your flaws. or, you know, stupid enough not to realize that yes, you really are that cynical.

Rage Against the Machine were musical guests, and they only got to play one song because they hung flags upside down off their amps or something. It's currently a Comedy Central rerun favorite.

It did have a "Nightline" skit in it. I'll never get sick of Darrell Hammond's impression of Ted Koppel. "My advice to you is to start drinking heavily"-John Belushi

"And Lamar Alexander is represented by Lamar Alexander #2,,,", Heh, that one was on a few nights ago, And I think SNL should be fine next season, so long as it doesn't turn into The Jimmy Fallon Show. I remember about 2 years ago he was looking like the next big star on SNL, then for the past few seasons he has barely been used, excpet for those "horrible re-enactments" during the Weekend Update and the occasional skit.

Here's hoping for a Mike Myers & Dana Carvey episode (they both have new movies). WyldeWolf1 The Man of 1,007 holds, making him 3 holds better than Chris Jericho!

Kattan had a movie out last year "Corky Romano" which did alright at the box office. Some of the other names rumored to be hosting next year are Tom Hanks, and former castmember Cheri Oteri. "Catching Hitler was neato!" "Next stop, Hirohito!" Bart Simpson
