| #1 Posted on 3.3.11 2319.30 | Instant Rating: 4.58 | The other thread had closed but here is an update on the situation with the Kings. Mayor Kevin Johnson has pretty much given up hope on trying to keep the Kings in Sac. The Maloof's are no longer giving the city of Sac. financial paperwork it needs on a possible new arena. Looks like the LA area will be getting a third team.

SoCal doesnt need a 3rd NBA team, and Anaheim doesnt need a 3rd professional sports team. The MLB (Los Angeles) Angels of Anaheim are good, the NHL Anaheim Ducks are good, the NBA Kings (not to be confused with the NHL L.A. Kings) suck right now and will probably continue to suck for a long time. In Anaheim, they would be a distant third-place option for sports fans in the area.
They'd have a better shot replacing the Sonics in Seattle, and I even heard someone on the radio today suggest Kansas City.

I don't care for your threads.
Given that you posted a very unfunny joke over in this thread (The W), you should already know that my #1 team is now the Timberwolves (although the Kings are right underneath - I would call them "a close #2" but that invokes the fact that they're playing like shit, and ah ha ha ha.)
In addition, back in December someone asked Virtual CRZ this very question, so I will direct you over there for THAT answer (vyou.com).

Kansas City has an awesome arena that sits empty most nights. I am not sure the city would support a third major sports franchise though. The Chiefs still do good numbers, but unless it's the Yankees, Cardinals or Cubs in town, the Royals constantly have open seats, which is a shame because the stadium is beautiful.
I was hearing on Sports Nation (or maybe it was Around the Horn) a few days back that the Clippers might move back to San Diego. Not sure how that would work out, I don't know if SD has a new arena or not.
St Louis would most likely support a team...

To be fair in terms of the Royals. Except for '03, the team has sucked for the past 20 years. Same reason why Pittsburgh has a beautiful stadium and plenty of seats available for the Pirates. | DrewDewce

Seconded on Bryce Kauffman stadium being a (surprisingly!) beautiful place to see a baseball game. We got to go to a Royals game there about 8 years ago and really liked it which was surprising (to me) given that on tv it used to look a lot like it came from the old cookie cutter Riverfront/Three Rivers/Veterans Stadium era (or at least that's what I always thought when it had that old Astroturf).
edit: And boo on the Kings moving anywhere even if it gives Seattle a team again. David Stern would cement that moving the Sonics was a ridiculous decision in the 1st place if he allowed the Kings to move to a "substandard" NBA arena (which was the main reason he and the Sonics gave for the move despite that being total bullshit).

Really? I used to live right by Busch Stadium. It looked pretty frickin' sweet to me, but I am far from a stadium aficionado. What's wrong with it, other than being approximately three feet from the interstate?

| #14 Posted on 7.3.11 1221.20 | Instant Rating: 3.43 | The brick facade is awesome, but all of the corridors around the stadium to get to your section is walled off from the field, to get to the uppfer levels you have to take a big slow escalator, the lower level past the dugouts mostly face straight, so if you're down either line, you have to sit sideways to see the action, the stadium (to me at least ) seems like it has the mgjority of the seating either Hugh behind the plate, or upper decks along the sides. The outfield seats are great though, and the bleachers are nice, but a bit overpriced at $25/space.
It just has zero personality as a building. Hell I prefer GMC Stadium over in Sauget where the Gateway Grizzlies play. |
