Just out of interest where are they going with Matt Hardy? He went over Kane at Vengeance and Kane was No. 1 Conteder the month before so does that put Matt in line for a title shot now behind Triple-H/Edge.

...and that's the bottom line cos jk sed so

As much as I'm the president of the “Matt Hardy should be a world champion some day” fan club, I think that's premature, to say the least.

Nice to see him go over Kane, though. But I hope they're going to build on this and give Matt a sustained actual push, instead of simply giving Matt, Kane and Lita expanded TV time whenever they wanna roll out a crappy sports-entertainment angle.

I think that if Edge does end up turning heel like everyone assumes he's going to, that Matt Hardy would make a very interesting challenger for the Intercontinental Title. Of course I'd like to see Shelton Benjamin win the I-C Title as well.

I'd love to see Matt Hardy get quite a bit more buildup and eventually win the World Title, but I'm not gonna get on the “Matt Hardy should be World Heavyweight Champion right now” bandwagon without a long-term, sustained push. And of course, they'd need to get the belt off of Chris Benoit first, which I'm not in a hurry to see happen.

But anyway... I'd love to see Matt be the World Champion by this time two years from now-- after being built up with important wins and good angles for a long and sustained period of time. I think he'd be a very good World Heavyweight Champion.

I agree with you Eke, I'm all for Matt get the big belt, but I'm basically not holding breath.

Matt would make a great IC champ. I think that Matt & Orton could make a great feud as well.

Of course, I'd rather have the heel Mattitude, but I'll take what I can. At least he's getting some RAW time now.

Most likely, Matt's program with Kane is just leading to Kane beating the crap out of Matt so that he can take time off to get the knee surgery he needs.

I would prefer the heel Mattitude as well. I have to agree Matt isn't ready for the title though but I think he could carry himself enough to have a mini feud against Benoit on one of the Raw ppvs.

But Matt didn't even appear the next after he beat Kane did he? you would think if he was in line for a push then they would've had something for him to do.

As much as I hate to say it, I seriously doubt Matt will ever get the World Title. I just think that Vince McMahon has it embedded in his mind that Matt Hardy is a mid-card wrestler. If they were going to push Matt to the upper-cards, they had the PERFECT oppurtunity in late 2002, when his gimmick was getting over and Matt was playing a great heel. They never followed up on it. Since then, he has spent MANY nights on Velocity and Sunday Night Heat, which makes me believe that they never intend to follow up on it in the future either.

I have held the idea for a while that it's going to take time and patience and continued excellence and hard work and all that, but if that all goes down like it can and should, Matt will win the big belt one day, the same as Chris Benoit and Eddie Guerrero did. As great as it was that they won, and as cool as it was that they did it after all those many years, it was kind of a day late and a dollar short on both of them, and I think the same could happen for Matt. Which is not a bad twist of fate (ohhhh) at all.

I think and hope and pray that if Matt begins a push toward World champ that he finally updates his look. The Team Extreme style is about as fresh as HBK's outfit. I understand branding for identification and marketing, but Matt's look is just a shade above "grimy." The attitude can be displayed in a more contemporary way.

Certainly, Eddy, Jericho, HBK and Benoit's recent reigns suggest smaller champs can work for the WWE so Matt shouldn't be disqualified on that basis. He's got a lively moveset that other WWE guys don't use (The Side Effect, the Twist of Fate, the Yodel Drop, etc.), and he's got an entrance schtick (the Matt facts) that can be adapted for any angle and each televised show. He's good on the mic, and I can't recall anything unprofessional stated about him.

Sure. Why not?

If, or is it when, Jeff Hardy signs the TNA contract, which we should hear about next week, I look for Matt to drop to the bottom as punishment. He will be lucky to remain on Raw. Can you say Heat?...
And, will he be able to recover? HHH did OK sticking it out when Nash and Hall left. But, he had a better look.

Matt got a good push after Jeff and WWE split, so I doubt he'll get punished. It not his fault.

Besides, I'd say Jeff and TNA already have a contract together.

But, Jeff didn't go to a rival. He went home to work on his music career. The WWE always felt he would be back. JR has been working on this for how many months? Only now to see Jeff go to the dreaded TNA. The contract isn't public, yet. And, Matt is in a storyline, but when it runs out...?

None of us know how much JR has worked on trying to get Jeff in. As far as I've read on the net, the WWE's only hang-up was that Jeff would have to go into rehab first. There's not much more JR can do if Jeff refuses, other than give Jeff his way. WWE has stuck to their guns with this one, and I'd have to guess that they have strong feelings on the issue when it comes to Jeff.

I can't see Matt as world champ like I once could. There are so many others being built up for that role - like Orton, Batista, Edge, Christian (at one time), Cena, Dupree. It might be nice but I don't see it happening. That's my two cents.

Well if they can give the damn WWE title to John Bradshaw Layfield...why the hell not give a world title run to Matt Hardy? I mean, at least the matches he'd be involved in would probably be good.

I don't see Hardy as a Main Event guy but he's young and maybe one day he'll come into his own. He's a fairly well sized guy but he wrestles small. Like the opposite of Chris Benoit, who is small but wrestles big.

That being said, I think its time they gave Matt the chance to at least get to the level of Edge or Orton and feud with those guys.

Sure he's feuding with Kane but did you hear the crowd on RAW during that segment? No I didn't hear them either. They don't care, nobody cares and I think people are going to end up turning on him and Lita just out of spite. The fans always end up doing weird shit like that. They'll start cheering Kane for no reason.

Matt does have a knee injury so I expect to see him get killed by Kane next week and be out for a while so Kane can get beat by Shawn Michaels.

Do shut up. Jeff Hardy is probably done with the WWE, and isn't a big enough "name" to make a difference. Hall & Nash were very over and contributed to the WWF in a great way. When they left...it was the MSG Incident that got HHH buried for a while. Matt won't get buried.

If by "good on the mic" you mean "knows how to hold a mic" then I'll agree with you.

There are just some wrestlers who fall into perfect situations, and M. Hardy isn't one of them. He doesn't "act" well enough to carry a believeable storyline yet. If it were the early 80's, he'd be Tim Horner on Georgia Championship Wrestling. He'd be better off in a tag team with another pretty boy in a league that cared about tag teams....old Memphis or Smoky Mountain. By himself, even with a win over Kane, who cares? He also needs to get the albatross Lita away from him.

Test is another wrestler who is just constantly in the wrong situation (storyline, timeline). He's big enough and has just enough power moves, he could have been Super Destroyer 3, give him a mask and one of the Irwin's old tights, there you go. Effective faceless villian who doesn't have to speak.

I think talking about Matt winning ANY title belt, let alone The World Heavyweight Title, is wishful thinking, at this juncture. Matt was a low card wrestler for months before this fued w/ Kane, and the common thinking is that the win over Kane will just lead to a massive beatdown of Matt by Kane. Not only will this leave Matt buried once again, but he really doesn't have enough credibility at this point to climb out of a big hole.

Matt would have been better off pushing to have Lita brought to SD, rather than pushing to get himself on Raw. On SD, he could have built off a successful Cruiser Champ run into a decent mid/upper card spot, and probably US Title run. On Raw, there's just too many other people taking time away from him.

I'd like Matt better on Smackdown, too, but the problem is that there would be nothing for Lita to really do over there.

That's one thing that I do respect about WWE ... that fact that they've worked to get real-life couples on the same roster.
