You wanted the best, you got... Out of Context Quote of the Week. "Because personally if I was being choked by Ric Flair, my personal reaction would be well, "Glrrrrkkk, can't breathe" but after that... "Man, I'm being choked out by Ric Flair, this is so cool." and then some more "Gllllrrrrk, can't breathe."" (Llakor)
Is it just me, or is it REALLY dusty in here? I wasn't sure that he would be able to get a word out between everyone trying to pay tribute to him.
Haven't seen him on TV since TE3, and I hope I have a chance to see him in the ring after he kicks cancer's ass.

I'm just wondering who embraced him after his speech.

Maybe it's because the biggest burdens are only put on those who are strong enough to handle it. Goddamn I'm rooting for him. Ever since seeing his class act on Tough Enough, all the way through the end of this speech, he's proven to be an example for not only wrestlers, but human beings. It's similar to how crowds thought it was funny a few years back to chant "What?" to everything any wrestler said. Is this an example of being smarks? Or is it just self-important and rude? Give him an ovation at the start and chant his name at the end. Anything else is overkill and starts to become meaningless. Because I feel like it should end today.
Even in TNA, it seems like every match has an "E-LIX SKIP-PER! (clap clap clap-clap-clap) LET'S GO SHARK-BOY! (clap clap clap-clap-clap)" chant. At first, it was cool when ECW fans would do it sparsely. But now, it's like the guy at a baseball game who keeps trying to start "the wave" just so he can brag about it to his friends.

Just because fans use the four-beat hockey chant for damn near everything doesn't mean it equates. I saw it as more "we love you" than "let's start this chant to put ourselves over".

I can appreciate the support shown for him. But there were several specific times during the 10-minute segment when Matt was about to talk but was interrupted by the fans. The intentions might be good, but when a chant ended 10 seconds ago, maybe now is not the time to start another one. That is the problem I had with mob behaviour like this. A couple chants per minute is not the best showing of respect when the guy is trying to talk.

And you NEVER use the 4 beat hockey chant when the guy has a 1 syllable first name. It sounds weird. The "Holy Sh*t/E-C-Dub" beat works better.
In all seriousness, I dodn't think the crowd realized the gravity of the situation UNTIL they let him talk. And even then, their chants were sincere demonstraions of respect, overdone as they might have been.
