Has been pushed back again, due to some problems with multi-player support. Dammit. I don't care about multi-player. I want this game for it's single player right now.

Anybody else looking forward to it?

Since everyone else is doing it (ok, not EVERYONE, but...)

Vikings (3-9) - Michael Vick is the sweet sweet dagger that stabs into my heart...
Badgers (7-6) - Being from Minnesota, qualifying for a bowl, winning at home. Oh, sweet victory.
Buffy 7.9 Earns 8 points. The plot for this season is awesome. I want to have Joss Whedon's children. Well...Not really, but the plot IS awesome. (Should I be waiting for the Marti Noxon sledgehammer of plot screwjob at the end?)

DDP: Well, there's this little passage I got memorized, Diamond Dallas 25:17. Sort of fits this occasion:

"The path of the bookerman is beset on all sides by the inequities of the talented, and the tyranny of workrate freaks. Blessed is he, who in the name of tradition and sports entertainment carries the stiffs through the matches of Nitro, for he is truly the workrate's keeper, and the finder of lost quality. And I will lay the smack down upon thee with great vengeance and furious roid rage those who attempt to outwrestle and expose my brothers. And you will know my name as the Bookerman, when I lay my catchphrase upon thee!"

MOO2 is my favorite computer game ever probably. I loved customizing my ships and trying to take out a large universe on the hardest settings. I also loved customizing my race so I was insane telepathic warriors that instantly converted planets whose Star Base's and defense I took out. Hell, when it comes out I'll play anyone in this game.

Midterms suck, but not as bad as necro angles.

Good grief, that was supposed to be a joint Christmas present for my wife and myself, last year! Looking at an old PC Gamer, I notice that the game is supposed to be coming out in Q4 2001 along with Civ III. Looking at the back cover of the Civ III manual, it lists MOO3 as a Q1 2002 release. Now, I'll believe the release date when I actually hold a copy of the game in my hands. My only prayer for this game is that it is as good as the first two while getting rid of the insane micromanagement of MOO2. I recently started playing MOO2 again to get ready for MOO3 and quickly remembered how much I hate the incredibly dumb autobuild AI. Oh well, maybe someday we'll get to play against each other in the great Wienerville MOO3 championship of the universe.

On Micromanagement:

They've almost completely eliminated it. Seeing as how they expanded the galaxy to 256 stars (plus planets plus moons) it's gonna get dicey once you expand past your willingness to click "Build Automated Factory". Instead you'll have the ability to farm leaders for your systems (every one instead of just the four), and they will take care of it for you so that you can focus on fleet management. Don't like the job they're doing? You CAN take over for them still.

On the Release:

According to the guy in charge (Constantine Hantzopoulos), they are done with the single player game. It's completely playable and has all the features that one would normally expect. However, the multiplayer is still pretty spotty, and rather than release a patch they're trying to fix it now.

I've got to give them a hand for that. How many times has a game been released way before it's ready and you have to wait for a patch. I'd much rather it be an awesome game than a buggy game that looks cool or Master of Orion II in a prettier box.

My favorite feature?

The new Orion Sentate. I barely even got to go to this in MOO and MOO2, and when I did, I'd always have enough votes to win the election. Now it's an actual senate where you can propose and vote on galactic policy issues (i.e. banning biological weapons or declaring galactic war). That's a huge step up. And I'm sure it'd work even better for multi-player.

But I'm getting way, way too far ahead of myself.

And hey, once I beat the single player, I can't imagine a few rounds of multiplayer not being fun.

Wow, I don't remember even hearing about a Ghostbusters game. I just looked up some info on it and it sounds very cool. Hope it comes through.
