As a service to the denizens of our beloved Wienerville, I've compiled (and am continuing to compile) Marvel Comic Book Movie images and comparing the costumes of the four color heroes to their cinematic counterparts. Enjoy!

I gotta say I like the movie chick a lot better than the comic book one (I forgot her name already).

And I just realized that I always thought that Green Goblin was really a goblin, as opposed to just a dude wearing a mask.

Turn out the lights, the party's over.
Glory be, this one makes 3!

I thought about the Hulk TV movies, but didn't think they were cheesy enough for which I was shooting.

Now, the 1990s Cap movie with Ronnie Cox, that I forgot.

The JLA pilot was a live action show done in the mid 90s for CBS. It's reportedly very very very bad and has been characterized as "a hate crime" to me by one comics industry professional. It was based on the Giffen DeMatteis incarnation of the team and starred David Ogden Stiers as The Martian Manhunter.

1970s DC special are very campy and over the top. Imagine Sid and Marty Kroft meeting the Superfriends.

One of the new characters is william schallert playing "retired man."

If memory serves, Frank Gorshin plays the Riddler. It also features Black Canary, the E-2 Huntress and Solomon Grundy.

They also featured Mordru, Captain Marvel, Black Orchid and Sinestro. With Ed McMahon hosting the roast. And the Riddler dressed as Freud, giving Captain Marvel psychiatric treatment...

The Captain American movie was so bad that Marvel was begging people to NOT see it. They pulled the plug on the FF movie when they relaized it was going to be just as bad.

I'm actually surprised that Marvel didn't have a good comic (big screen) movie until Blade came out. You'd think with such popular characters that major studios would be begging for the rights to make them.

I think the problem was that Marvel was constantly playing catch-up to DC's success (initially) with the "Superman" and "Batman" franchises.

So they were eager to get in on it too, and sold the license to whomever would pay. Unfortunately that happened to be Golan/Globus (for "The Punisher") and Albert Pyun (for "Captain America")How Dino De Launrentis missed this particular fire sale and completed the Trifecta of Movie-Suck, we may never know. Or maybe we do.

But whoever inked that deal for that Japanese Spiderman show in the 70s (the one where he drove Speed Racer's car and had a giant robot) shoulda gotten a bonus. Nothing quite screams "now what the hell is THIS?" quite like seeing Spidey fight ninja ducks.

I know other people who thought Green Goblin was a real goblin as well. And people who thought Harry becomes Hobgoblin not Green Goblin 2. The only Goblin who is really a goblin is Demogoblin, who is the demonic half of Jason Macendale, the old Hobgoblin. Macendale used to be Jack O' Lantern and Hobgoblin and couldn't beat Spiderman so he sold his soul to Mephisto to gain greater strength than Spidey, eventually the demon part broke away and became Demogoblin. Demo was cool because he made his broomstick out of demonic fire. But anyway, pack to the post, I still can't picture a black Kingpin, but that picture was VERY close to Kingpin, only he was black. And Elektra looked HOT.

Okay, here we go again on the Hobgoblin stuff, but you're wrong about him.
Hobgoblin initially was a dude in a mask. But in the Todd McFarlane Spider-man series, he takes off the mask and has, in fact, turned into the hideous creature he portrays.
It was awesome. I'm sad people missed it. But it's true - Hobby eventually becomes a gross wacked-out creature.

Here's my Hobgoblin Rule of Thumb:

If Roger Stern didn't write it, it didn't count.

Too true, odessasteps... Hobgoblin Lives is still my favorite mini-series. *Drools* Ahhh... Roger Stern = COOLNESS. And JMS. And "Jazzy" John Romita (Jr. & Sr.)

You're right - Macendale was still the Hobgoblin through this whole thing. But over time, after portraying the sick, demonic psychotic freakoid, he actually turned into it, psychologically and physically.

See McFarlane's Spider-man issues 6 and 7, the "Masques" storyline guest-starring Ghost Rider. It's a helluva read.
