| #3 Posted on 31.5.02 1351.19 | It makes text scroll across the screen in Internet Explorer. It doesn't work in Netscape or iCab, so I doubt it's been annoying Chris - but I'm sick of it.
It adds nothing to the content of the board, and is visually disturbing - so it's gone.

the marquee tag thing was a proprietary creation of microsoft, not part of the actual W3C HTML 4.0, 4.1 or XHTML 1.0 standards (and as far as I know, it ain't part of the 3.x standards either).
The blink tag (along with the font tag and a bunch of other tags) were created by netscape, but due to the frequent use of the font tag, it was included as part of the HTML 3.x specifications, and HTML 4.x Transitional (can't be used in HTML 4.x strict or XHTML 1.0). I think the blink tag may have become part of the HTML 3.x specifications, but if it was, it was dropped completely in the 4.x specifications (even the transitional one, which allows for damn near everything).
